Since Kelly isn't going to play Brian even and Brian isn't giving up what John wants Kelly to get, how about Vette and JB Cases make a game? Now THAT, I would like to see. I have no idea how either one plays, but the negotiations could be excellent viewing. John seems very convincing in his arguments and Vette doesn't seem like the type to shrink up when confronted. Maybe a TAR match could be set up. I'll be the first to make a wager. Once they come up with what they feel is a fair game, I'll take Vette for $50. Would be fun to sweat.:)

You've got action

John Barton speaks with his heart but bets with his brain.

I also am in the camp that likes Karen Corr's chances to beat more men than she loses to at a venue like the DCC 9ball. She would have to get a bad draw to lose that bet imo. Just the fact that she is a women gives her a ball or two advantage over many men, who pucker up at the thought they will get beat by a woman.

There we are talking about draws in tournaments. The original discussion was top 100.

Would you like to bet on any match Karen has during DCC against anyone on my top 100 list. The one posted earlier was hurriedly put together. I can email a revised list to you. I will agree to wager on the first 3 players she matches up with on my top 100 list. This will give you 3 opportunities to win while the most I can win is 2.

Do you want action?

I think this is pretty settled. I won't pick a number though.

Here is a thread where Reed Pierce offers any woman in the world the 7 ball if they bet $10,000 or higher.

The 7-ball!!! Now I will admit, he is a past champion. A past US-Open winner no less. However, this guy hasn't seriously competed in 10 years. His "AZ Player Rank" 815. I think it would be very difficult to currently consider Reed one of the top 100 in the world.

Yet here is #815 offering any woman in the world the 7. Also, if you read that thread, no women chime up take the offer. No one has taken the offer.

It is pretty cut and dry if you ask me.

These type of offers usually stand because of the amount of the bet. How many women would have $10,000 to bet on a match? Or how many backers would put up that amount for the ladies?

If that bet was smaller, maybe in the range of $3,000 to $5,000 he should have gotten already a few interested parties....

I seriously doubt it

you're welcome. Also, I would like to play Efren. Although I think that I can play with him and all the other champions for that matter, I have no desire to play him even. I have stated many times that I can shoot with the best but I don't really want to unless somebody gives me weight. I guess I don't REALLY think that I can compete by evidence of my unwillingness to play even, but oh well. Are there any backers out there that want to give up enough weight to make it a fair game? Let me know.

As a matter of fact Efren/Efren's managers hand out sizable spots all the time to make it a fair game.

Unlike some people who claim that their player is leagues above the other player and then go on to offer to gamble even.

So you are a great judge of speed and you like to steal. That's a shrewd combination. Some people would call that sort of person a locksmith or a nit. But then again the locksmiths and nits tend to be the ones who don't book too many losers so if that's the title that goes with the territory wear it proudly.

what about 9ball playing archer i dont think she can get enough weight to win.

I agree but I will let her try him with the five out and the breaks. Are you willing to bet on that?

I have the best idea! Since I can't play a lick, why doesn't he come down to my poolroom(Wallys,Lakeland FL) and me and him can play and see how bad I play! I don't mind gambling, even donating, but I'm tired of his mouth!

Jeremy

You have a permanent date in North Carolina. You want to beat the WPBA? Just go there. You can play, Tiffany Nelson, Kim Shaw, Val Finnie, Kelly Fisher, Allison Fisher and we might even coax Kristie Carter out of retirement to play. No need to go on tour and fade expenses, just one stop and you can get rich, rich I say. Go north young man, go north.

If you get a little farther north in March then you and I can play. I will be at Valley Forge and I have $1000 ready for you take from me. And I am really retired, I play once a month if that. But I will try you even, no problem there, even though I don't think I could survive on the WPBA tour.

People generally consider the 7 ball to be a non-spot for great players. It's essentially meaningless. That is why US Open and Mosconi Cup champion Reed Pierce didn't get any takers.

John and Vette? Sure I will play. I will bet $2000 since I have to bet more than OMGWTF/CUBC. :-) I can't be nitty about that. I will be in Valley Forge in March 09. That should be ample time to work out the game. TAR? Sure if they will allow it, they can sell it as an instructional video afterward on how not to play by simply showing me playing.

OMGWTF/CUBC bet $3000 each.

I thought it was 1500 each and 3000 in the middle. I guess I could not be lazy and check the thread. Ok then, I will bet $4000 but we aren't playing an amateurish 7 ahead for it. I will play 15 ahead for $4000 against Vette in March at Valley Forge if he wants the action.

heck no I dont want that bet. LOL, I dont believe Karen likes her chances against any of those guys for the cheese. With 300+ players in the nineball event though, I think Karen likes her chances to cash in the event as long as she doesnt get a bad draw.

I will bet you on her matches in the blind though. We bet before the draw 100 on each match with the agreement that we continue to bet until shes out. She could get SVB first round or she could get Sean van Banger ...

You want to do that?

nothing like an early morning hearty laugh to start your day.

I'll take the 6 out and the breaks. That's probably a fair game. You wouldn't want to steal, right?

Even if we did play close to even I wouldn't play 15 ahead for $4000. There is no way I would play pool that long for only $4000. I was thinking like race to 5.

Well the guy did say that he didn't think she could get enough weight to win. I felt a little nitty asking for the rainbow and the snap so I figured I'd gamble a little and try it with half the weight.

:-)

Well then I guess it's no game. No surprise from my side. It's ok. I just watched part of the CUBC match and they play like three balls better than me. I don't think TAR viewers can handle my level of awful on the pool table.

I will give you the six out and the breaks though for 20:1 on the money. I might get lucky and win one out of every 20 games but I will try it. I guarantee that I will play at least 40 games this way.

Hell, I am feeling frisky, if you guarantee me 60 games I will even give Brian White the six out and the breaks for 20:1 on the money at $100 a game. With that spot I might not even get to unpack my cue before it's over. But I will try it.

This thread is "If you were to rate the top 100 players in the world". I never said that Karen isn't a great player, nor that she isn't a top player. My position is that a woman would not fit into the statement this thread was started on. If you get anyone to take your bet, I would like to bet with you. If you do think she is top 100 (the initial discussion) you and I can bet off my list (which I am certain will not actually be the top 100 so you should have advantage).

you should make a case out of the crack you've been smoking. Seriously, maybe some dime bag pouches and acid inlays. That sh*t would be fly.

No I like the chances of all the 100 you listed (and alot more than that too) to beat Karen. She's a great player and her play on the Joss tour shows she can beat just about any male player in a tournament setting. She is not top 100 in the world though.
