IF You've Ever Asked RKC for Table Advice..

They look like oak furniture. The angled corners although functional are funky. They are blocky. They really are not very pleasing to the eye. I understand you spent money on it so your opinion will be slightly jaded. If I was buying a new table right now with money being no object, I would certainly look at the diamond but unless there was some overwhelming reason to buy it then I would probably pass. That's my take. Wouldn't stop me from playing it obviously and it's opinion based. Just for my money I would choose something with a little more style.

But, as I've done for a few customers, you can picture frame in the side body panels to frame in the body of the table that brings out a whole different look to the table.

Just curious; what would you buy instead that hits the sweet spot between style and playability?

I don't get what you mean by that. I didn't buy it and then come to like the way it looked, I liked the way it looked and then I bought it. It's a sexy table, and I'm going to do dirty things to it if I ever make it out of the "friend zone".

Gold Crown V tournament edition.

You just won't see too many of them because they are TOO damn expensive but, that has too be one of the nicest table designs I have seen in a long time. It's a nice match between Art Deco and modern. I would put my money on that table all day long. Not exactly sure what happened with Brunswick and how they lost there marketability for tournaments but, I still love them and a majority of place I walk into or play in still have Gold Crowns in them. I have a GC 3 right now and although I love it the thing I don't like about it it the raised pockets and castings. It was never a good look or player friendly. But this table is solid and plays very well. Today while polishing the balls, once clean I was randomly dropping them on the table. I was aggressively nudging the table to see if I could get the balls to move. Zero budge. It's a beast. Diamonds are as well. I am just not going to look at it day in and day out. I like function and form and in my opinion the diamond lacks on form.

It looks like a block of wood. That's the reality. Nothing sexy about it. But, like I said it's all opinion based. As long as you like it then that's all that matters.

I think the fact that Glenn has dressed these tables up by framing them means that obviously others feel the same. Never heard of anyone framing the outside of a Gold Crown to make it look better.

When are we going to see the RKC/Diamond Anniversary/Centennial?

Looks like the legs have rickets that caused them to bow.

She could lose a little weight on those thighs.

Never:thumbup: not interested in selling a new table a few times a year when if i really wanted to get into table production, I'd just get into swapping out worn out GC's with new rebuilt, remanufactured GC's on a 1 for 1 basis, even offering a trade-in for the old GC's.

I am sure I would. It just sounds like that work would cost me more than my table. I picked it up for $1200. I had to do an overnight drive to Phoenix to get it and probably put a grand into it. Something tells me this mod of yours is probably more than my entire investment. I will probably own this table for another year or so and then try to pick up a GC V or maybe a diamond. Diamonds might play great but I can't get over how ugly they are. Just my opinion. Obviously there are many that swear by them.

Doesn't matter what you buy, nothing is going to match an RKC worked on table. Not until and if he comes out with his re manufactured GCs and that is a big "IF". I just can not understand why the other table mechanics are not begging him to let them tag along and learn. Guess that job would come with a lot of travel and only one guy that I know of loves to do that.
