I'm being suckered by beauty. AMF Grand Prix. Someone talk me down.

About to pull the trigger on this AMF Grand Prix. Owner wants $1,300 but I think it will go for less considering the bumpers no doubt need replacing. I realize it's a Gold Crown knock off but dayum what a good-looking table! Imagine this in tournament blue. I've read about the dowels vs. screws and other unconventional fittings but have concluded with the right set up, it could be knockout table. As I'm not above being seduced by a skirt, anyone want to tell me I'm an idiot for buying it? Bonus: Armand Beaupre of Snookers in Springfield, MA is going to set it up for me.

It has been a few years, the last time I played on a vintage AMF table was in your neck of the woods. The place was called the Rivoli. Not a players room but damn....it was a crazy week in there. I had to have a room that was with in walking distance of downtown. They had a few classic vintage tables but the two AMF tables really caught my eye. About the only place in the city that would deal with American hundred dollar bills. I went through several every night I was in that place.

The AMF you are considering is a very solid table- it could be set up properly to play very, very well as your home table. Also, it has the really cool 60s retro vibe that can't be beat IMO- be bold, stand out and go for it!

Nice table.
Reminds me of an Aircraft carrier shape from the 4 foot wide view.
Narrow at the bottom and wide and flat at the top.

Love that table! Looks to be in amazing shape.

PS: Don't take that juke box...you wouldn't believe how much those things weigh.
