in tampa - where to play?

I am in Tampa for work for the week, and looking to get a few games in. Anybody from AZb around this neck of the woods? I feel like going to Fatso's Billiards on Busch Blvd, sine it is close to the hotel - good place? Just want to get a couple hours of play in, while I am in another city.

I will probably go there Tuesday noght. Do they have an 8 ball tourney any night this week?

fatso's is in a pretty bad part of town and there tables are in pretty bad shape.... i would try strokers 2 on hillsborough,strokers in palm harbor and hammer heads in holiday

I am actually staying in that part of town - reminds me of my home in new orleans:p
I haven't been shot at......yet.

Any other suggestions, or any AZB'rs available to play tonight? Any tourneys on Wed or Thursday around here?

Wednesday- Strokers I - Open 9 ball, 8pm, $13 (?)

Thursday - don't know.

Friday- Crooked Cue - 8ball - 8pm - $7

Saturday- Hammerheads - 1st Sat of the Month - 8ball/9ball Open - $35?, Strokers II - 2pm - 9ball - $8
 
and to echo the other reply's Fatso's can be a dicey prospect to go alone. I've had my car broken into twice there and one of my good friends had his motorcycle stolen from there. within a couple miles you have the Bull's club (right over on fowler 12+ 9 footers) you won't find the action there if your looking to gamble but the equiptment is better and the crowd is mostly tame. Also stright down Busch is Breakroom (where I play) place is usually very dead but they have 12+ big tables. Couple other rooms are pretty close, I think Peabody's on bruce b downs has pretty good crowd and good equiptment too...

Have the fixed up the Bull's club at all? Last time (only time) i was in there the tables were the worst I have ever played on in my life, they weren't very night to look at either. But that was over a year ago and I think it's because it's so close to USF that they see a lot of traffic on the tables!

Strokers 2 on hills is the best in Tampa. If you stop bye say hi ill be working the desk tonight..

Yeah, they put new felt on a hand full of them. Granted they still aren't great but much better than fatso's. I played at fatso's last week and played on 4 different tables... they are in pretty piss poor shape. most of them are SLOOOW and have pretty bad roll off on a couple.

Table wise... no doubt. I can't remember the table number but I think it was table 11 on the far side... avoid that table, the felt is like glass... all the tables there play fast (nice) but there is one specific table that is bordering on rediculous. (uber-fast) Virtually impossible to control your rock on that badboy.
 
The action will probally be strokers in palmharbor tonight if thats what your looking for,all speeds of players.

Yup with the pro tour being at hammer heads this weekend. Strokers should see a lot of players up there tonight!

Lots of great places to play and good people in the Tampa area. I prefer Strokers in Palm Harbour it has a great mix of players and decent tables.
