Inexpensive Ball Polisher

Mr. Jay, you always come up with great items!

No jokes please!
I just wanted to take a moment to thank Gerry (that's his AZ name) for sending me a new ball polisher. It's very simply made but works like a charm. He can be reached here via PM's and will be more than happy to make one for you also. I won't quote you a price, I'll let him do that. But trust me, this one won't hurt your pocketbook and will do the job just as well as the more expensive/fancy models. Thanks Gerry! :wave3:

How are you doing these days, Mr. Jay? The Lock had not heard from you. Great idea on the ball polisher, and passing it on to us! Thanks. Thanks again for the nice welcome!
Regards,
Lock N Load.

Back to the subject at hand. ........ This causes the balls to change directions while they are spinning. A simple maneuver that improves the operation immensely.
The wife and I have been having this problem for some time. We'll have to try that.

Hi everyone,

I made a short video of the ball cleaner so you guys can see how it works. I am having a few issues loading it to Vimeo, but it should happen tonight. I will post the URL as soon as it is working.

thanx for your patience!

G.

ok, phew! :)

I think I got back to everyone! Please excuse any missed PM's, you guys can probably tell I was not prepared for the BIG response to this thread. I'm thinking I should make a MUCH better quality video explaining the polisher, and put a thread in the for sale section, or on Ebay to make it easier for everyone to get the info.

thanks for your patience!

Gerry

ok everyone, here is the video. Sorry for the crappy quality! I'm not sure why the vid and sound dont line up in the begining? but hey, I'm a plumber, not a video tech guy :)

Gerry,

I'll take one. PM sent. Thank you for taking care of all the lazy people out there that can't get off their butts to make one (me). :)

Dave

Thanks

I collect interesting old pool balls and have been looking for a cheap way to polish them. Since most of them are clay with cracks in them you should never ever use the old brunswick era ball polishes because white grit gets down into the cracks and won't come out. Modern ball polish sold by mueller's etc is what i am told works so i am going to try it on a cheap plain hyatt set. Now i have to build this contraption to find out!

The video wouldn't play for me. Are you using a polisher that spins or one that just vibrates in a circle like a hand sander?
Thanks!

The polishers I build use an orbital car buffer. The vibration is dampened by lining the bucket with good carpet on all sides.

I have been out in the shop all day today making templates so each one is exactly the same.

Thanks for all the pm's and questions.....I'm real happy with the latest batch of polishers, and all the orders have been shipped out as of today.

I think I will call them the "Shine Bucket" :)

After talking to some friends we came up with the name "Shine Bucket" for the polisher. I think I like it.

Thanks to everyone for all the help!

Jay,

Could you describe this ball polisher and how it works? Is it one made from a bucket or is it made of wood??

Thanks,

Randy

I made one with a plastic bucket and it works great. I used a Ryobi car buffer in the bottom of mine in a Home Depot bucket. I got the idea from some of the threads here on AZ and I got everything I needed from Home Depot for less than $50.

You remember the picture of the lion a couple of replies back? Well, i say. "boy, i sure wish i could do that." and you say. "___________________________!" :d
