Probably not the correct forum for this question, but I thought most of the experts would be here.

Looking for some info on 1x2 tube style cases.
I currently own two very nice Ron Thomas 1x2s. I have no problem continuing to support him with case orders, but I wanted to see what else was available. As far as I know, RThomas and GTF are the only current manufacturers of 1x2 tube style cases. Is this correct? Is anyone else making this style of case? Does Sam Engles still make cases?

Just looking for something different. Might have to switch to an envelope style case for my 1x2s. They are nice too.

Either way, thanks in advance for the info and help.

Oh, and if it helps, I can post some pics of my Thomas cases.

Whitten

Hi,

You can look at mine at DZ gallery #3, Christian´s cue.

It´s great.

I guess that was what you meant by tube - inside?!

1x2's

If you can find them, It's George used to make some like the GTF's, Thomas, and such. There's always the old centenials and fellini's if you can get those. As far as people making them new, I don't know.

Currently, those are the major players (Whitten and GTF). Sam Engles is probably still making cases in the Bahamas, as I still see an occasional new one. He still has a few floating around that you can pick up off the secondary market, too.

The three cases I have in the pictures are: Engles (black elephant, Engles (smooth leather), Engles (tan elephant), DW Cases (custom tooled one off), Centennial (tan ostrich print), and a sea turtle Fellini.

There are still a few Centennials floating around, and an occasional Fellini or Ann Gore, and you can even find a few cheaper ones like Adam, Viking, etc. that sort of look like the more well known cases. There is also an occasional Super Mac, Kelli, or Schon case, but these are no longer being made.

As for envelope cases, they are becoming some of the most desirable and collectible cases in pool world. There are some really outstanding makers right now on AZB ,including: Rusty Melton (capefairpool), Marc Turcasso (matcase), and Rex (Cyrex), John Barton (JB Cases - maker of the GTF Cases you mentioned earlier), Dennis Swift, Garth Bair, Gil Castillo, and Steve Price, just to name a few. The case I have in the middle of my picture with all the tooling was made by DW Cases, who is a friend of mine that makes a limited number of high end cases in Phoenix.

I love 1x2 cases and I'm glad to see there is still interest in them!

Best,

Steve

Jack makes envelope cases too. I think hunter hit about all of the "pop top" cases. I almost bought one two or three years ago at nationals. They're pretty slick.

Whats the cheapest tube style case you can buy? without a zipper? If you don't mind me bumping into your thread Buster?

If by cheap you mean inexpensive you won't find a lot of tube cases in the sub $100 range that don't use a zipper top. We made a run of ten "brunswick style" cases with flip tops like a cigarette carton but decided not to continue with them. They were about $70 each.

IndyQ is planning to release a line of GTF 1x2 cases in high grade vinyl for about $129 retail and $99 on sale.

Also IndyQ has Murnak 1x2s in several configurations, some with zipper and the Brunswick replicas without zippers.

No one mentioned Rusty Melton but he is making a nice little 1x3ish case with a removable lid. No idea on price.

We at JB cases have only made on 1x2 so far for Eric Crisp. Other than that the smallest has been 2x2/2x3.

thats what I want is a old, real real old centenial in mint condition. that would be the nutz, I have wanted one of them forever and never remember to buy or even look around for one.

Cases by J. W. Hager are about as functional and protective as can be -- and unique in design.

thats the truth, you can put your Szam in one of his cases and drive your Hummer full of fat chix over it and have nothing to worry about(except maybe feeding the fat chix), but your Szam will be fine as will the case. Mr.Hager is a gentlemen too, I really like him.

Thanks Everyone for posting, I really appreciate it.

I know what you mean, Eric. I do like those old Centennials.

I would love to have one of those Engles tan elephant cases. I really like the lighter cases.

I'm also going to look into those case makers you mentioned. I would like to add an envelope case to my fold.

I was also thinking; I remember an AZB member Tattosbyjay posting some tube style cases he was making.

Anyone know if he is still making cases. He hasn't been on the forum in a long while.
