Hello, I am hoping do gain some insight as to this old cue of mine. It was given to me by my grandpa, he had a small pinball/billiard place in Texas in the 70's. I slammed it in my car door about 30 years ago and it was damaged at the joint.
Would like to know the approximate year it was made and and info on the unusual shaft. What would be the appropriate wrap material also as i would like to fix that.
Thanks!!

Yes! A few things on this old girl, don't follow the norm.

Your bailiwick but that cue looks like it has had a lot done to it since it left the factory. The wrap I don't think is a wrap, the joint doesn't look factory either. It has 19 stamped into the wood, all things considered I think this was a one piece somebody has worked on. That shaft looks odd too.

Shaft looks like it was a butt. However it is definitely a one-of-kind.

Rosewood spliced shafts were common back in the day.
But spliced into Birdseye not so much.
Joint looks odd but the wrap seems genuine.
I have a few vintage cues of this era and the wraps are coming undone. I love leaving them alone.

I did the wrap a long time ago , its hemp. I can't remember what was on before, but possibly Irish linen ...
I broke the original joint , on the butt side I think , and it was repaired so thats what you see...
Thanks for your input!
