Actually I noticed that the upcoming Chinese cue makers are seriously upping the ante because they have to compete with American cues and if they don't bring anything fresh and interesting to the table then no one would even bother.
May seem strange but the Chinese aren't the most patriotic bunch when it comes to supporting home made products.. No chinese maker would even want to compete with Chinese made production cues cos they know how good and cheap they can be, ie Fury and Predator are made in China. Since they can't afford to sell cheap then they need to compete with imports. The rich will consume anything expensive and imported so if they want a slice of this pie they need to do something that wows the rich and persuade them why they are better.
Most importantly unlike America, cue making won't be a hobby in China and will never start out for any full timer as one. It's too expensive to begin with for the average joe and no Chinese that's rich enough to own a house with a garage(to accommodate the machines) would even wanna do wood working (average housing sizes in china's 700-1200sq ft). Let alone buying all the machines and all. Therefore if its not a hobby then its a full time business, to even consider cue making a business these guys must know their stuff otherwise they're giving up alot...
I believe few makers can attempt, the question is how small you want it I suppose. I'm working with this maker now and he wants to do my full Chinese name in the ringwork...that's several times more intricate than the one I'm showing now and he insist on doing it...I'm reluctant though...worried about resale
WOW. The ringwork idea was great! Although I'm sure it won't look nearly as good in another language hehe
being that its a break cue.. i would like to suggest a name for it...

Nope, unfortunately i don't own this cue.
I think the only characters more complex than Chinese would be Tamil...so i think everything else should looks ok as inlays just whether the amount of work aka man-hour aka price justifies it going into just ringwork.
If it's a King Slayer i wonder who's holding this weapon
