I have a Jacoby Heavy hitter break cue that im in love with but looks so plain with no wrap. Has anyone ever had the butt lathed for a groove and had irish linen wrap put on?5

Have done 4 cues. 2 with leather 2 with linen. Worked out like it came with it. Choose a quality cue repair person.

It’s a common thing. The cue maker (or repair guy with taper equipment) just cuts the
channel for the wrap and puts it on. Not difficult at all if you have the right stuff.

Go with leather wrap. If you'll don't like it, you can change to Irish linen. Linen requires a deeper groove in cue.

I think you have that backwards.

Generally leather requires a deeper cut.

There are variations.

There are thicker non-standard linens, and there perhaps are thinner leathers.

All wrap leathers are split leathers. I believe the cuemakers look for a standard thickness, but some deeper grain leathers, like elephant for example, need to be relatively thick or there will be holes in it when it is split.

Probably you are right, a cuemaker will give the right solution.

I have a Joss cue with Irish linen, and I'm playing in a room with high humidity, the linen wrap is always wet, so that's why I'll advice for leather.

Its probably been done thousands of times.
Not a problem.

Easy job if the joint screw has a center hole, straight and concentric and if the handle has little or no wobble.

It's only a break cue, I really don't know if it's worth the trouble .
Most people hold their break cues past the wrap too.

Might as well just use a rubber slip on. Save the joke.

I also had a linen changed to leather. Regardless you will like the one you do choose.
Expect to pay double the price for leather.

My Brother!
You don't cut a cue between centers to add a wrap on a finished cue. Do you?

If you go with a leather wrap, go with Spanish Bull, or EE. I would contact Martin here at AZB...aka jazznpool. His products, and service are second to none, IMO.

Guido Orlandi can put one on, while you wait. He is in the top part of the Michigan thumb.... I like his cork wrap...
