Instance heart attack..Left my cue at the bar

Several years back I left my Josey cue in the AZ room at DCC and went to bed. I had been playing a lot of One Pocket (I took on all comers at ten a game ) and was kind of tired. I carried my case up to the room and went to sleep. In the morning for some reason I opened my case and NO CUE! OMG, I couldn't believe it.

I knew where I had left it and hurried down there and sure enough there was no cue there. I don't remember who told me, but someone said they think Scott Lee picked up my cue and was keeping it for me. Sure enough I got hold of Scott and he had my cue. I got it back soon after and treated Scott to a good meal. Thanks buddy, you saved my day.

I used to live in Memphis. Memphis open going on, players in the city, . I got matched up with a guy from Michigan. He's down $300 & rooms are closing
There's an all-time room on the border of TN. & ms., well we get on down 👇 there. His partner is playing $1000. Sets with a local. I'm doing well and wind up with $800.+a nice joss, for $300.. I made out pretty well. Bout a week later I decided to break out the joss.! Ha... Close to a room that I play in. Matching up w the owners son, then I suddenly got swarmed by some large types. Saying, "let me have a look"! Yeah buddy, but it's not leaving my hands. Got intense. Had a hillbilly share with me that it would be in my best interest if I just left the cue(worth @7-800.) (I've only got 300in it... ). I relented and went to the truck 🚚 to gather myself.... Up comes a longhaired bro, works at a nearby room,
Turns out (Mike?) it was a stolen cue from @1/2 mi. Away and it WAS mike's player. Next day I validated it with the owner of the room he worked in. Yep, his! I (today) feel like crap but he got his 'baby' back! Glad for him. As things work, sometimes, I DID NOT GET MY $300BACK AND HAD HAD 3 OFFERS FOR THE $800 ID MENTION. DAMN... IT, HEARD ATTACKS,,, HAD A COUPLE IN A COUPLE OF DAYS.! MIKE was 'mucho' glad he got his cue, I knew his boss and the cue was his, and I'd taken $800+from some kid from Michigan. I was glad he got his cue, I was glad I had won after the tourney, and SUPER glad that some hillbillies hadn't roughed me up.! I, mike made it pretty good,,, the kid from Michigan was gone! Heart attacks!? WHEW! Ha... On the road after 4 yrs. But to Texas!

Back to Texas, few months later. And DON'T MISPLACE YOUR CUE. can't say ppl would let ya just have it back! Ppl r pretty 🆒 here. Yeah... Good luck 🍀

Mike! This past Thursday, (Thanksgiving Day) I pulled out my prized PIERCE Cue from my 4x8 butterfly case and stuck it in a George 2x4 I had, not wanting to haul a bunch of wood to my Godson's house. I played with it for about two hours, then put it back in the case and went home. When I arrived home, I put the 2x4 in the closet where it usually stays. Yesterday, I pulled out the 4x8, opened it, and almost had YOUR heart attack!!
I couldn't for the life of me think of where I had left my Pierce. I was sick!! Then....Duh, after about twenty minutes remembered the George case. This episode just about knocked the socks off of me. I know exactly how you must have felt. So Glad you got yours back as well.

This is what I call a SENIOR MOMENT, and I am having them more often lately, I hope someone is not trying to tell me something. Tom

Captain. Do youse guys have sharks in Milles Lac, or is it a shark, muskie cross.

10 inches of hard water a little north of ya. My auger is ready to go.

Hey Blue Hog, That is a 49 inch muskie I pulled out of Leech Lake Minnesota. Although "guppy-sized" by Canada standards, it was a trophy fish from Leech Lake. She smiled sweetly for her picture, so I kissed her and let her go. I was happy she allowed me to be a part of her life, if only for a little while.

Week ago I met up with a friend at a bar to play a few rounds of 8 ball.

The place was empty and I got side tracked and when I left, I left my cue on the table kind of tucked under the rail where it was hard to see.
This cue is like my right arm, just me I have owned and own some very nice custom cues.

I didn't know I had even left it there until this morning when a friend of mine was passing through from Salk Lake City stopped in to pick up a cue.

When I opened my cue case 3x5 I noticed my main player and the shaft wasn't in my case.

I have slightly high blood pressure and my heart sank..... And I felt like I had the butterflies.
It wasn't like I don't have more cues but that one was my favorite, and how would I handle it if I seen someone with my cue.
I don't really care to get in people face but over my cue, I don't know if I could of contained my anger.
Worst part is I left the cue there myself so I really only had myself to blame.
I sure didn't want deal with this at all.
One thought was I was glade I had pictures of my cue so I could hang reward signs around town.

I had to wait till noon to for the bar to open up.
As soon as I walked in, the owner reached behind the bar and handed my cue to me.
I ask who found it, they said the bar tender Jennifer .
I gave them a twenty dollar bill and asked if they would give it to her, and say thank you very much.
It still took 5 or 6 hrs for my heart to settle down.

I've done that same thing before. Usually a large mouthy drunk will have it and I'll have to explain that it's my cue or just hand them someone else's cue lol

About 6 months ago I left a Paul Dayton cue with a dark bocote wood and an old growth shaft in the pool room. Was not my regular player but love the dark wood and I got it from tommie1351 who we just lost this year. I was devastated, I had talked to tommie when I bought the cue and liked the looks and hit and figured I would never see it again. It was about 3 or 4 days before I realized it was missing. I went into the pool room and asked if any cues had been found and turned in. The guy reaches behind the counter and pulls out a cue and says "is this it". Yes, I felt like I had won the lottery. I also gave the girl that was working that night, that had found the cue, $20 when I saw her.

Being that I had done something so stupid, I immediately put a check system in play to make sure I left the pool room with everything. Well, guess what, I left my Schon which is my player in the pool room a couple weeks ago. A friend of mine called me and asked if I had my cue because he thought they had found my cue after I had left that night. Sure enough, I had an empty spot in my case. Duh! So much for check systems to protect against "senior moments" or "old fart's disease". Being extremely careful now, I know the 3rd time won't be so lucky.

I think it was 1999 when someone swiped Danny Medina's cue RIP at the US open at the sands..
I hope I spelled his name right, My heart sank when I heard what happened to Danny M.
It would of ate me up inside, he shot lights light's out despite the fact some low life ripped him off.

That was the first I remember meeting Danny M and cannot forget what happened to him.

My main player may not be special to allot of folks, but it sure is special to me.

Hope to see you in Reno in feb. for the bar box open.
PS glade Scott had your cue .:D

I met Tommy at California billiards in Mt View 3 or 4 years ago.

Good man, Great cue flipper, and he was a big plus to the billiards world, RIP

Leaving my cue behind or having it stolen was a reoccurring nightmare for me for many years. I'd wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat. That's all passed now. You're fortunate to have had a good outcome.

I was really hard luck with a Meucci once.....
...I forgot and left it in a pool hall for a week....

...when I went back, it was still there.

If you are under 70, don't worry about it, you should be able to control your movements. And I'm talking, all your movements. Aaahhh, "The Golden Years".

Headed toward 73 and no problems with movements or the control of same.
However, I can't Run any longer, so I'll just shoot any dumb-ass who chases me.
And ... I'd Iike to strangle the s.o.b. who coined that phrase " Golden Years ".

Like they say, the only thing golden about them years, is your urine. However, on the bright side, being retired, gives you more time to play pool. I'm 3 mos and about 3 wks away from 73 myself.

20 bucks

Yep... a hundred thank you's do not equal $20. Glad you got your cue back.

20 bucks is not much ................................
The bar tender is also a pool shooter, she will be on shift tomorrow.
I was planning on dropping in and was thinking of making her a sneaky Pete.
Not sure really how to thank her and all the employees for making sure I got my cue back.

Mike,
Mom always drilled into my head that there are more Good people than Bad.
Although I tend to forget those pearls of wisdom, happy endings like yours
come along and prove her right yet again.
I would imagine that those involved in getting your Cue back to you fit firmly
into the Good Category and their reward was that big smile on your face.
Some things, as you well know, come with No Price Tag.
