I am thinking about creating a website with a lot of media content and I wanted to get a feel for what kind of speed you have when getting to the internet.

LOL....Dude....do you live in the White House? That is some serious intranet goodness right there. (My google-fu tells me a T3 is 30 times faster than a T1.)softshot said:I'm gonna get my geek on here... but I have a T3 line to my home.... only until fiber is available.

A T1 is only 1.544 Mbps (mega bits per second). In general, you can get up to 6 Mbps via cable or DSL now. I have 6 Mbps DSL and pay much less than $50 pr/mo. You can probably save $15 pr/mo and get 3 times faster speed if you make a change.asiasdad said:I live 5 miles from Geek ground zero (Intel campus) and Intel/Verizon has 300 homes including mine wired up to this T-1 fiber optic thing that costs me fifty bucks a month. Should I cancel this ??
JCIN said:I am curious. I see people throwing big numbers around like 4 -6 Mbs on DSL....what is the true stable up and down speed of these connections. My experience is that most providers turn into used car salesmen when it comes to connection speed. In other words are you really getting these super speeds?

This is me on Midco cable in BFE South Dakota:
