Hello all -
Longtime lurker/searcher here that finally has a question I haven't been able to find the answer to here or anywhere else, so figured I'd sign up and throw it out there. Grew up playing on my dad's table (Hawthorne by Brunswick, I think?) and got a Centurion as soon as I moved out and had the space and money (which took a looong time). Sold it with a house a few years back and have been wanting a table ever since.
Anyway, the Marquette question comes up because my great aunt has deteriorated to the point that the family has to move her to a nursing home, and she has a Marquette set that was her husband's who died several years ago and has been collecting dust since. She wants all her stuff to stay in our (very big) family, and since I'm the only one interested in it, I'm the lucky guy. Problem is, I want to pay her a fair price for it but can find very little info at all, much less used pricing info, for it. I obviously want to give her a fair price (WOW nursing homes are ridiculously expensive!), but I can't find any used sale values at all. I found a post here that lists the 2005 retail as $23,499 (thanks, JAM!), and a Southern Cal B&B that has the bar listed for $13,499 (http://billiardsandbarstools.com/br...mited-edition-marquette-bar.html#.XHl5kFxKiHs), but nothing for the cue rack and "Marquette Print" that complete the set (or, what the 'set' price was). I know in general the resale value of tables usually plummet from retail or even wholesale, but I don't know if the relative rarity (160 total made, supposedly) and/or having the complete set would make it worth more on the used market. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
