Not really new to the forum, but I finally decided I was going to participate. I joined originally back in 2011 to answer a specific question about a brand of pool table. I hadn't logged in since.

So anyhow, I suppose it's time to introduce myself. I tried to grow up in pool rooms but my dad wouldn't allow it. It's not that he didn't want me in pool rooms, but that he didn't want me around while he was working. When I was a kid he played the game for a living. He actually tried to teach me a couple of times, but I was all of 6 years old and all I wanted was to hang out and have fun with my dad. He got discouraged, and well, that was the end of my trips with him. When I was a teen, he bought me a cue and started taking me out, but I wasn't really interested anymore. Once I graduated high school, my interested peaked, and I started playing a lot more. I worked in a few rooms for a while, and worked as a table mechanic for a couple years as well. In 2001, I blew out my knee and that really set back my ability to play. I fully recovered, but never dedicated the time I did previously. That is until I lost my job this past June. Since then I've been playing much more.

Previously I had always considered myself a C player. It didn't seem to matter how much I played I never seemed to improve. This time around is different somehow. I don't know what it is, but I actually see improvement. I can run a rack now and then, and often put together some solid runs. Even my ability to play safe has improved greatly. It's given me a new desire to play this game more often, and to learn even more.

I currently play with a one of a kind cue I designed that was made by Myron Yoshizawa. I still own my Meucci O1 (oldie series) that I got around 1993. I used to call Shooters in Riverside, CA home, but don't currently have a regular room. I really like Stix in Ontario, but it's a bit of a drive for me right now.

I hope everyone here finds themselves well, and I look forward to conversing with you all.

Nice to have you on board.

It's a great place with lots of interesting, entertaining, and helpful info.

Look forward to seeing you around. :)

best,

Well, were have you been and what have you been doing?
Nothing much going on at AZB. We've lost a few members since you were last here though. Suicides, mostly. A few were murdered by jealous husbands. Three were killed driving drunk while texting. One died after he went off to Pakistan to drive a truck. Other than that, it's been pretty quiet.
Oh! I got a new cue.

Welcome to the forum! I owned a cue made by Myron and it played pretty nice. Where are you located now?

Welcome,

I too just returned after a long hyantus, hernia, hessians, hyawatha, ....lay off! :) wheres my spell check?

Welcome,
I also quit playing for about 16 years.
I was pretty good when I quit.
Now I'm old and struggling.

Welcome to the forums!

And BB, forget sniffing glue, reading crappy AZ threads is the best way to kill brain cells!

d_day...Glad to have you back here again. There are a LOT of AzBr's in Socal...several dozen in Orange County alone. Been to Shooters and Stix to teach, along with a dozen other rooms in S. CA. Interesting that your dad was a player. Does he still play? I'll be back in S. CA in early August. Maybe our paths will cross and we can play a little!

Yep, dad still plays. Nowhere near as good as he once was. Still beats me regularly though.
