WOW!!!!!!!!
I was just chillin, watching a basketball game, and my old lady runs in here screaming for me to put the tv on A&E......

I turn it on and this show called 48 Hours Mystery is investigating a local murder in Memphis....
They are inside the Rack, (now called Samples) questioning pool players about the murder..... among them is local 1 pocket player Randy Reese...

the rack host a large barbox tourney every year super bowl weekend, for those who haven't been there....

Kinda strange to see someone I know in a pool hall I used to go in on tv being interviewed on A&E...

Anyway, I'm sure it will be on again

I hear the main suspect is some guy with a collander on his head!

That wasn't me!! I was at the shake joint gettin a hwbj. As soon as she can talk she'll corraborate my story.

That might have been my evil twin Bubba Joe Jack that was ID'd. He borrowed my propaganda/bullshit deflecter to go trick or treating last night. I think he wanted to go disguised as a bozo. Anyway he didn't return it so I've got nOOOOOOOO idea what's happening.

Seriously, I think the person that was murdered was a local player who called himself YA-YA. Likable guy who dabbed em decent on a bar box. Happened about 2 yrs ago and NOT at the pool hall. Rumor has it that he was set up (robbery?) under the pretext of a romantic interlude by a (not cue)pimp. The pool hall was in the loop because that's where YA-YA spent most of his time. As far as I know the crime hasn't been solved.

THE RACK and or SAMPLES has been in its current location since the early 80's. There isn't much trouble inside BUT if you wander off the beaten path it can get REAL dangerous REAL fast. Come, play, and leave the area when your done. Do not trust or get involved with someone looking for whatever. Parts of MEMPHIS, like most cities, are treacherous.....

You can say that again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah it was Ya-Ya...had dreads I think....someone followed him back to a motel room he was staying at ad beat him with a shotgun I think and robbed him.....He played down in Macon a few years back at some of our tournaments at Hometown.

I haven't been to The Rack in about 3 or 4 years, but that entire area off of Lamar is extremely dangerous. I used to stop in there every other week when I was going through Memphis (I was driving a truck at the time). I would park my rig across the street in the large parking lot. When I was done playing, I'd go back to my truck, and sometimes I would eat in my truck and just chill out before going to the Pilot truck stop for the night. In the half hour that I was there I would have countless prostitutes and dope dealers constantly knocking on the door of my truck. The last time I was there, someone broke into my truck while inside the pool hall, so I stopped going there altogether. It kind of sucked, I really enjoyed playing there and talking with Harold Noe and some of the regulars, but there was just too much risk involved.

The show is called The First 48 and its based on the notion that the first 48 hours of an investigation are the most crucial because after that, suspects can easily slip through your fingers. Its actually a cool show.

I didn't read the rest of the post or the rest of the thread so if someone you know was murdered, sorry to hear the bad news. If one of your friends was a witness, ouch! That's rough. If one of your friends is a suspect, good luck to them.

I saw that show several months ago. I'm pretty sure they caught the killers driving the guy's car.

I caught the tail end of that show last night, or I should say early this morning about 3:00 a.m., EST.

They arrested a lady and a man for the murder, and according to the show they both are facing first degree murder charges. I'm not sure what the outcome is today, since this show was filmed several years ago. It would be nice to know how it ended up.

Got some tube time in late last night and your RIGHT, our fife's arrested a couple of degenerates and charged them with YA-YA's murder.

Don't know the outcome, however, if I were to speculate we're prolly providing them with food and shelter for the rest of their lives.
