Iowa 2025 - Ultimate Pool USA

they have a rule that you forfeit the game if you catch the ball AFTER it goes into the pocket- how stupid. Shane just lost a game because he grabbed the cue ball after he scratched in the corner pocket on his break.

I like this tournament overall, but they have to get rid of that rule.

It's harsh, but I think Shane is in the wrong.

Players shouldn't be putting their hands in the pocket.

What happens if the ball stops rolling and it doesn't fall into the pocket?

I didn't know that was the rule and if so, that's fantastic news.

I hate it when players do that against me.

It's equivalent of letting someone shoot the 9 ball and grabbing and giving them the game. I've seen people do this. Rather than just give the person the game they will make them shoot it and grab it. They are standing there like they are giving the game and ready to rack.

This is why I always smash in the 9 ball because there are guys that do this. I don't know which pool hall they are learning this from.

I agree you shouldn’t catch the ball before it falls in the pocket, but that’s not what Shane did- he let the ball fall into the pocket and grabbed it before it went through the ball return- that shouldn’t be a loss of game

I don't know how they would punish him. While harsh but it was the correct call. It was already a foul so they added to it.
I just philosophically disagree with the rule. If you touch the ball before it reaches the pocket, it is a foul. If the ball happens to not scratch and he never touches the ball, it’s not a foul. That’s the rules I favor. A loss of game should only be reserved for throwing the ball across the table or raking the balls- it is way too harsh

predator event ref last year busted rubilen even worse- 10 ball or 9 ball

she made the final ball, won that game,
but helping the ref to gather the leftovers
she touched them before her cue finished rolling-foul, respotted money ball, BIH

That should be a disqualification. You're really relaxed on the punishment. To each its own.

You can't do that either.

I think rules should be enforced because we have become so relaxed that even every poolhalls has their own set of rules. I asked a guy what happens when he scratched and he looked at me like I was pulling his chain. I told him every pool hall plays differently.

Tom Cousins won the event, defeating Joven Bustamante 7-6 in the Finals. Bustamante had beaten SVB 7-2 in their semifinal match.

SVB played 9 matches in this event, winning 53 games and losing 23, for a game-winning percentage of 70%.
[He probably won 54 games, as a race to 7 was posted as a 6-3 win (still 70% wins).]

Bustamante played 10 matches, winning 62 games and losing 34 (65%).

Cousins played 10 matches, winning 66 games and losing 23 (74%).

Edit -- The 6-3 result for one of SVB's race-to-7 matches was correct. See easy-e's post #57.

I saw a women lose a game because after she fouled by not getting the shot off before the clock she tapped the cue ball with her cue. Not hard or anything . Just one of those little taps I’ve seen many players do to indicate they fouled.. that was a loss of game lol

gimmick is as gimmick does
Yeah god forbid people try use their imagination and inventiveness and find ways to make the game more interesting for the viewer. I mean if they succeed then people like you can’t complain that pool will always be dead because no one wants to watch it 😂

over all I liked the format but I also like watching bar box pool.

I noticed last night when some matches were popping up on my facebook page that the only match’s being played on a Brunswick were the matches in the streaming arena. everything else was diamonds. I’d like to hear how the pro’s felt they compared.

The 6-3 scoreline was correct. The match clock expired so the match ended with neither player reaching 7.

I learned this lesson recently in a small weekly tournament. Hit a shot and cue ball didn't do what I expected after a kiss and was heading towards the side pocket. I thought it was 100% a scratch, it should have been and I had my hand in the pocket waiting to catch it. But it stopped, it hit some little piece of chalk or something and held up just at the very edge of the pocket and even rolled back a tiny bit. I was shocked but hadn't touched anything and just kept shooting. When I got back to my chair my opponent, who had much more tournament experience than I, said I should keep my hands out of the pocket just for cases like that as there are many people who could try to call that a foul thinking I interfered with the shot.

It was a good lesson, let things happen on the table as they're gonna happen and stay out of the way. It's not a long walk to the other end of the table if it's a ball return.

Need a rule clarification. I thought in ultimate pool you couldn’t shoot your object ball into an opponents and just pocket theirs, which I think takes strategy away but anyway.
I just watched the women’s final and in game 4 Elul shoots her 11 and makes Savannahs 6 ball. Anyone
