Always lookin......
Silver Member
Last night I had a very memorable trip to Clinton, Iowa to visit someone who has over the last few days become a man I can call my friend. His name is Larry but you all know him as Iowa_Player. I drove the 3 hour trip to take a look at some cues and see about working out a deal on a trade.
I will say this, Larry is one of the nicest, most down to earth individuals I have met in the world of pool. The man plays quite well and is a pleasure to get along with.
By the time I got up there it was closing in on 10:00 Friday night and I had no clue on where we were going to be able to shoot a little and get to roll the cues around. We ended up in the basement of the old Lassiters pool hall. What is now a country western bar called 8 seconds. Larry was very helpfull in answering my questions and even allowed me to win a few games lol.
I was able to make a deal for the main cue I was interested in and he has another that I am hoping to get my hands on soon.
All in all a very memorable trip and one that I am looking forward to making again sometime in the near future.
Again Thank you Larry for being a gracious host and fine member of the Iowa pool community.

Thanks a lot bro. it was great meeting you and Ashley I had a great time and I look forward to the next time . Hope your return trip went well .

For anyone wondering how the Schon R2 deal is going there will be a thread started by Markus and im sure Ryan will respond . But just so you know I will be getting the cue back I will be refunding in full including the express international mail fees plus paying Markus to ship the cue back to me. I will not go back to Magix and ask for a refund so he can then go to the guy he got it from for a refund . The buck has to stop some where someone has to eat it so it will be me .

To:Ryan

Ryan I am sorry I questioned your claims but I feel like I had reason to be concerned . At first when we first talked about this didnt understand your issue with the cue I really thought the issue was that you just didnt know the dif. between an STL4 and an R2 . When you said you would post your info to see what the forum would say I said please do thinking everyone would inform you of the dif. in the two cues. I did not know or understand your issue was about the points and the if they were round or sharpe . I will be going to the bank monday to deposit funds then transfer those funds to my paypal account and issue you a full refund .
I am sorry about this and do regret this whole mess very much .

To : Markus

Thanks Markus you have earned my deepest respect and i would be glad to buy you a few drinks should we ever meet . If I can ever do anything for you please feel free to ask.

I am sorry for my rude comments and bad language . I make no excuses for my actions as there really are not any .

Thanks ... Larry

A Start

It's great to see you handling this like this. It's certainly a good start.

Being able to decipher issues, determine what they are and handle them properly from the beginning is sometime difficult. Good business ethics and character can be learned and adapted.

Many people will condemn someone who has made a mistake, forever.

The reason forgiveness and the ability to forgive are so important is because humans make mistakes. How they respond after realizing it is what separates them.

I for one am proud of you! Keep up the good work.

Ray

Green coming your way.

Hey Larry,

Apology accepted.. I guess the main thing is we proved that nobody really tried to screw anybody and it was just a matter of miscommunication (or the lack of it) between the 2 of us. I tried to call you a couple of times but couldn't get through. Hope we can all move on and put this issue behind us. Peace.

i just want to say that larry is just the kind of friend we all hope to have.fight like a bull dog when they think there right and apologise and do every thing to make it right when they are proving wrong.i'm glad he's my friend.larry,i'll pm you. george

glad you got it sorted out

Larry,

I'm glad you two got things sorted out. In all honesty what is very tough to see with the naked eye can be very obvious when photographed with a hi-res camera and put on a 22" screen. I did some macro work with a decent camera and lens a few years ago and discovered things I never would have seen with the naked eye.

Decent of you to eat the loss, it's impossible to know when the points were doctored or how many hands the cue has passed through since.

Hu

I was one of those who loudly criticized you over the schon transaction. I made it clear then, as I will now, it was never about the circumstances surrounding the legitimacy of the cue, but rather how you handled yourself and the way you expressed it to the forum.

We all get upset, and often times it can even difficult to control the emotions, but civility must always be adhered to.

I'm glad you did the right thing and apologize, publically, to those that were offended by your language.

Good luck to you.

Thanks George

I would like to point out that George aka Magix has offered more than once to do what ever he needed to do to make it right even tho I have never asked him . He is a very good friend and a stand up kinda guy . i just wanted to make it clear Magix has offered to me to do whatever I ask of him to make right . I choose to just keep the cue I may play with it as I think it hits great or it will just sit in a case gathering dust .

Thanks ... Larry

Larry,

I am with Ryan right now and he told me that he still not happy with your apology ....all the hazzle, stress, and luck of sleep every night thinking about the cue....I think Ryan needs help!!!!!!:rotflmao1: :rotflmao1: :rotflmao1:

Love it when a plan comes together. I would of bet a lot of money this would have a happy ending. I think possibly if we would of had less instigators it would of worked itself out quicker. Larry an P1noy good deal for both you guys.

Good job to both of you glad you worked things out. Regarding Pinocchio's comment, i doubt it would have been worked out. Go back and look at the thread and the sellers position and state of mind in the beginning. The instigators should be credited here for helping the seller see his ways. If it weren't for the instigators, the seller would have never become a changed man.

Again, glad you both finally got things worked out. This should have never gotten this far in the first place.

Im sorry but your wrong on that . The instigators didnt change my mind at all they only made things worse . I simply wasnt going to issue a refund untill I or Markus or Evan had a chance to look at the cue and make sure that it had not been altered since it left my place . As soon as Markus had it in hand he said he thought the point had been altered at some point . He also said that it is indeed an R2 as listed in my post and the refund was up to me . I decided to issue a full refund including shipping and pay Markus to ship the cue back to me .The instigators had nothing to do with this . Before this deal I had many many great transactions here on the forum with over 40 positive ITrader points . As pooltableprocp posted he got a cue from me and found a very small ding in the forearm he then sent me an email with a picture on the ding . I offered a full refund right then and there but he decided to keep the cue as it was a very good player .

I dont mean to go on and on but I want to make it clear I would have and always have done the right thing . I dont need instigators to help me in doing the right thing . If any thing they did slow things down .

Thanks ... Larry

in my opinion.instigators only care about instigating.its all about instigating.thats all.they could care less about the hurt they cause or the outcome.

LOL, 5 pages into the thread and the only instigators are you and Larry. First Larry tries to paint the buyer as some sort of deadbeat by saying a "well respected member told him a story about you", which he later recants because it is proven false. It then come to light that Larry called him a dumbass scamartist. Then you come in on page five and continue the instigating by asking what if you (Pinoy) are found to be a dumbass scamartist. By then Larry had started another thread about how he was a lowlife ripoff artist, which later was deleted because of Larry's foul and harsh language directerd twards everyone here at AZ.. So you can blame it on the "instigators", you and Larry, if you wish. You are correct.

The trouble must go on ! We must stir it up and keep it going !
No time for positve we gotta have the negative drama .
Some posters just love the drama and must keep it going and going and going .

I have done everything I can to make this right .
I have said I am sorry to Ryan and to the entire forum yet the bashing must go on .

Bash away if it makes you feel better .

Larry, you have apologized and it was accepted. Kudos to you for Manning up. I think everyone here accepts your apology.

First point I would like to make is I did get a few pms from said member that is true .When I was told by other members that those stories were untrue I droped it and said I was sorry for ever bringing it up.

Second point is I was wrong for calling him a dumbass scamartist and im sorry for that . I truly am . The only reason I said that (not that it was right ) was he was telling me in pm that he thought he bought an Schon stl4 with sharpe points . We had went over this a few times in pm and I was sure that was his issue and after a few pms of me explaining the dif. between the stl4 and the R2 I was fed up with it . Thats when I said what I said and all this was before he started his thread . Then he started his thread with the pictures that is when I understood his true issue .Then I felt like the dumnass
Magix is a great friend and was just standing up for a friend and he didnt call any names he just said "what if Iowa_player is right and you are a dumbass scamartist then what ? I cant speak for him but im sure he would take it back if he could as would I on a few thing I have said or done on and off the forum . All I can do is live and learn from my mistakes .

Third Point that thread I started  wow I realy lost it didnt I ?
I had just had enough of the bashing and a chosen few trying to pick me apart and make thing look worse than they really were . Anyone who gives me a chance and gets to know me will find I am a very honest person with tons of human compassion . I know I did go off in thread and I was a nut case for making that thread I was truly on the edge that night. I have said it before and ill say it again Im Sorry for my action's in that thread and the bad language in that thread and the other one.

Thanks ... Larry

I have to admit that Larry is great assest to AZ and a top of the line guy to deal with ... I know for a fact that he had every opportunity to blast a good friend of mine and a deal they made awhile back and he has had chances since then to blast him ... But he has not taken that opportunity and has left it pass and even complimented him... I have talked to him on the phone and he is very level headed and kind someone I do not see how anyone would have a problem calling him a friend ...

Hangemhigh on the other hand even though I know he has several friends here on the board does likes to stir the pot ... And comes across to me as a bitter and angry old man ... He truly lives up to his user name kind of like the old Judge on the that Clint Eastwood movie named after his user name... I can only figure him to be a old man that life has soured on and he is left feeling old alone and bitter at the world ... I have read many of his post and some carry some decent content but many seem to prolong and carry on a bad situation ... I have long ago learned to for the most part ignore him and his posts...

Larry thanks for being the person that you are ... In my book your a good person and I would send you rep but my rep buttom keeps saying I have to pass more around before giving it to you again...
