IPods during Communication are so Wrong

This was really bad at a place I used to go to. I ended up only getting a table in the corner of the room even if it meant waiting an hour or two for one to open up. There is nothing worse than being surrounded by tables with people just standing around in your way for every shot.

Hey guys, please read my earlier post.

This is really a problem with the management. Like has been stated by others in this thread, the bangers just don't know any better. It is the managements responsibility to inform them to hang out at the other end of the table when they are not shooting.

It would be funny if you had to really fart and the gas was building up. Walk up to him and ask him to move because you really have to fart and you usually can't hold it when you bend over. If he doesn't move just turn around, bend over to shoot and let it rip as loud as you can in his face. After that he may get the message.

That is unfortunate. I play with an mp3 player on (and wear one at the gym) but I remain concious of the people around me, and never stand in the way of other players.

I do wonder why a group of kids would hang out only to ignore each other.

Giving me being a hot head, I would just take it up with management after my third attempt to keep the guy out of my way. After my third attemp and if I have to absolutely confront someone, I'm stepping in ready ro rock n' roll the guy. I try to stay out of trouble, so if they keep getting in my way, I will just talk to the owner about it, or sometimes I will just move to a different table if there are others that are open. Other times I feel I am the one in the way when the guy next to me move to a different table. I don't really know, or maybe we just try to give each other clearance, since there are tables open.

As for the iPods, I understand where everyone is coming from, it does reak od shark. Another thing I dislike in a pool hall is loud music. At Ray Rec. Friday nights and weekends are packed with younger people, and they are not only annoying while they shoot, because they don't know how to and they don't know proper etiquette (which is one thing that really bugs me when people don't show respect and the proper etiquette for the game) and lastly, they will have the jukebox so freaken loud, it distracts the hell out of me, so once the jukebox blows my ear drums, I'm out of there. Don't get me wrong, I love music and I'm one o those guys who blast it in their car, but when it comes down to shooting, it is either no music, or low music. just my 2 cents.

Happy shooting! :)

Heh, I am old enough to remember when the first tape cassette Sony Walkman was released. It was officially declared as the End Of Society back then in the 80's because the dang teenagers would rather be bopping to their awful music than just sitting in silence with their hands folder in their laps, or listening politely to their elders and betters.

What a crock of crap that was then and this is now. Society is still here and going strong. If the teenagers in that Pool Hall didn't have their ears plugged up with their Ipods they'd be just be singing, yelling, laughing, chatting at each other instead, which I personally find way more distracting. Also consider that, whilst I understand that you want to concentrate on your game, the establishment probably gets far more revenue from teens on a night out, eating, drinking etc. that from a "serious" playing who may well just be sipping water all night.

And no, I don't expect kids out to play Pool socially to understand the etiquette of not standing in someone else's table space. Either the management of this establishment need to want to change the atmosphere to encourage more serious players, or you need to realistically change your expectations when you go there to play.

Sorry, I know it is tough for serious players to get the environment they want but it is also tough for any room to make a living these days.

This has nothing to do with an Ipod, if someone is standing in the way multiple times then that person is dense and rude, period. Ipod or not.

Have you been conversing with my 4 year old? This sounds like something she would say.

Exactly. I don't care about the IPod. I have an mp3 player and use it a lot. What bothered me was his unwillingness to remove the damn ear buds, or turn down the volume, when I was trying to speak with him.

I was actually considering strapping on a portable tv on my chest, and one of them small generators in my Army Rucksack for power..that way I can play some 9ball, and watch 2 1/2 men. I think thats do-able isnt it?

But I wouldnt want to be in anyones way.....so you guys just wouldnt be able to play when I play.....wouldnt be enough room..we can take turns though

Someone on here looked at my youtube (ftgokie)..same id as AZ id...and they said that I reminded them of Chris Farley....im always hearing this...I just dont see it though.......always loved his stuff though...I just dont see a resemblance at all....

no idea

I play with an iPod and I like it especially when I play in my 14.1 league.

I do not want to hear the ambient noise in the pool room. I find it very distracting listening to somebody griping about this or that talking about a trip to the riverboat or whatever.

When I play really do not want to talk to my opponent or somebody else at a near table. I pay attention and can hear if someone talk to me as I do not max out the volume.

When playing socially I do not wear the iPod.

If I get bling or style points or whatever i would be glad to donate them to anyone on AZ, just PM me and I will forward my style point your way.

iPod's are not evil.

That would get to me too. When I take my fiancee's kid out to eat she usually listens to her iPod while I'm driving and I refuse to let her wear it into a restaurant.
