on a positive note

Keith seems like he is using the IPT as an excuse to play dress up.

And his skills have afforded him the ability of a steady houselife.

Not to change the subject of the original thread but for a moment. Will this photo be in Keith's book? (I love it!)

There will be MANY photos in Keith's book, and this one will be in the chapter entitled "Conquering Ceasar." The name of it was given to me by somebody else, quite by accident, but I like it a lot! :D

( half a league, half a league, half a league onward, into the Valley of Death rode the six hundred........ and Keith in that getup :-)

Doug......Which do you think would have looked most out of place in The Charge of The Light Brigade during The Crimean War in 1854 (which is what " into the valley of death rode the six hundred " etc was all about),Keith in a waistcoat armed with a pool cue stepping back a mere 150 years in time or a Roman soldier stepping forward about 2,000 years ? :) :p

I'd like to see Keith and 50,000 more dressed just like him marching into IRAQ with their Bangabushkas and looking for action....

Hi JAM, I too know alot of players who have not acquired much materially over their careers, some due to drugs and so forth. But to me, that isn't the point. I was just wondering why he would think it important to say he needs the current payroll due to owning/spending on these particular things, in this interview. Or as JD said, it wasn't really an interview anyway.
I just thought such a spokesperson for the sport, or especially for this situation, would have reacted differently. But like I said, I don't know him, so wanted other's ideas. Maybe I'm the only one who got a little bent by it.
Thanks JAM.

Well, you know a little more about him. And I would say this is par for the course.

I wonder whose bright idea it was to have a $2,000 entry fee for the IPT qualifiers.

To me this seems to hail back to KT's pyramid schemes and was the beginning of the end for the IPT. I really believe when they got the huge turn out at Hard Times of 70 plus players, KT thought he had stumbled onto a gold mind. I do not think they originally expected that at all! I clearly recall the first events for those 8 cards said two cards would be awarded regardless of the turn out, and I think it was only 1500.00 entry. So I really think they did not have expectations of big tournouts.

Then the way they later promoted the Q'ers just reaks of greed.
Their attempt to make even more profit by making qualifier's for the Qualifier just proves that and they completely overestimated what people would be willing to fork over just for a chance at a chance for a tour card.

To J.D., this was such a great article, I read it over the weekend and kept nodding and gasping out-loud! I love the line about the cost of a pick and shovel, that was so perfectly put. I really think a book about all of this would be amazing. If you need an agent, feel free to PM me, I have a good friend in NYC that does that.

Hi JAM,

Maybe you & Keith could extend a nod to the Scottish contingent (as Keith claims that his family are originally Scottish) and re-title the chapter:

"It's mair like a Knight, isn't it?"

Geddit?

Naw? Ach well, I can wait 'til the sequel comes out...

"A Man for all (Grady) Seasons." - The greatest pool stories, by pool's greatest storyteller.

But... Jenny, whist I know that your picture scrapbook is pretty well exhaustive, do you have a pic of Keith in a kilt? Yet?

Now that is very funny! :D

Keith in a kilt, it will take some doing, but I'd love to get me a picture of that for sure! :p

Rodney Morris had come home from Vegas with $17,000 and spent the bulk of it on IPT-licensed products. He was sure he'd do even better in Reno.

I wonder how much of that crap is still piled up in the corner of his family room.:D

He bought a number of Diamond tables for Capone's, a pool room of which he's part owner.

I was thinking, box after box of IPT chalk and ball sets piled up in a corner.
The tables were a great investment.
I did not know he is a part owner of Capones.:)
