IPT Jeopardizes other events in the World

The s*** certainly seems to have hit the fan.

In this context, Colin, this is a clever double entendre ---- at least it is to this fan!

Like Medicine, Pharmacy Industry, Dentistry, New Car Sales, and almost everything else. It is all about MONEY :(

Sometimes in history, power struggles will occur. What we are witnessing is a hegemony, quite possibly because of the lack of progress in the sport.

Pool needed a change agent. Without money, the sport, if I can call it that, was stagnant, maybe even going backwards. Some entities were making a profit before the IPT came to the scene, but it sure wasn't the pool players themselves.

International players have emigrated to the United States, looking to get a piece of the American pool pie, and we opened our doors and welcomed them with open arms. Whether you were from Finland, Ireland, Republic of the Philippines, Korea, Russia, Italy, The Netherlands, Germany, Japan, or Great Britiain, what little slivver of American pool pie there was, it was there for the taking. Come one, come all.

If the IPT can bring more players into the sport, if outside monies begin to pour in because of this new IPT platform, in the long run it will benefit every single person within this industry.

It's a win-win for us all, as far as I'm concerned. :)

Well, I completely agree with what you're saying here.

I hardly think KT is "throwing money up in the air". Like you said, the tour survives only if the boss makes a buck. You would probably be the first person to say that KT is in this IPT venture to make money first, to promote the sport a very distant second. If that's the case, why would he venture into something where he doesn't think he would benefit financially in the long haul? He's a billionaire...he knows how to make a buck, and I believe that's only a good thing as far as the IPT goes.

I admit, I'm no promoter. But it's only common sense to me that the reason why pool hasn't hit it big the past coule of decades is because lack of public exposure. Lack of public exposure means lack of a public audience, and thus lack of big corporate sponsorship, and thus lack of money. The 2 showings of pool per month on espn2 has proven that it isn't not enough. KT has found a way to put KOTH on a weekly timeslot on a pretty good channel (supposedly). No one else has done that before, which is why the professional pool players have been earning beans lately. The key to pool's success and prosperity is publicity, and KT seems to have done it. How is this a bad thing for pool?

I say that because it is his nature to do irrational things and he could wake up tomorrow and say, "I must be nuts doing this" and pull the plug in a second. I see that as very possibly one of the most likely scenarios. You reference to he knows how to make money is not really correct. He also knows how to lose money all through his own doing. He has gone through more money then all of us put together will probably ever see. His current fortune is financed by this book thing and is producing money but that just is what it is. That is no indication he knows anything about what he is doing now or will even listen to any of the advisors he has hired. He is a Michael Jackson type where you look at him and just shake your head and say, "How could you have pissed all that away".
Do a little more studying on this guy and you will see what I mean. Forget what he has in his pocket at the moment, you can take what ever comes out of his mouth with a grain of salt. If anything else all of a sudden gets this goof balls interest, he will be off in another direction like the IPT idea never happened dodging the law suits. This is not the guy you want to be betting your future on.

I guess the best you can say is he may put some money in the pockets of a few players for a short time. Even using my most vivid imagination, I find it almost impossible to see this thing being a financial success. I just wish all this was happening with someone else at the helm, instead of this unreliable, untrustworthy, undependable, jackass. There are not enough words in my vocabulary to describe the lack of confidence I have in him. The rest must just go by blind faith I guess, what else can they do.

I hear about abbout Trudeau the special 20/20 did on him wasn't of the best press. But there is also the fact that his alleged past of crime and sense of advertising ggenerate what the pool sport needs free press. If instead of mentioning Kevin Trudeau people mention ohh billiards and pool it'd be great. Now with him and his illegitimate cash being thrown around its like this guy is splashing water in every which direction. Yes the investment the guy is fronting into the sport is great but his lousy business tactics make it seem like he is a second class human. I'd rather work for tiny tim and make enough to eat than work for mister scrooge.

My hopes is the rain will wash whatever dirt away given enough time.

There are only 2 things Blackjack doesn't want to change.
1. His mind.
2. Everything else.

And a "top of the morning" to you, Jay! :D I guess it was a poor attempt, but I was trying to equate IPT players as the "great spirits." :p
