IPT Ten Years After

Not a fan of KT's by any stretch but blaming deaths on that book is kinda out there. If anyone based their health regimen on a book sold on tv they should have their heads examined. Comparing him to serial killers is laughable.
Well, he might not have killed the people who read his books, but he 100% stole money from them. One of the things he got hemmed up for PRIOR to IPT was getting people to sign up through the books to a scam site for "the REAL stuff they don't want you to know", then he double-charged them, or just kept pulling money out after people saw it was a scam and cancelled. Straight up credit card fraud.

Mind you.. All this info was fully available to the pool players before IPT. I am fully convinced to this day that the players got paid only because they..."knew people" that ran in certain circles, if you know what I mean. Might have been hazardous to KT's health not to pay at least the players.

Just goes to prove.. Desperate pool players will jump in bed with the worst kind of people, just at the mere hope of a payday. Not to say they are bad folks for doing so. Just observing that things are so tough in pool, it makes players vulnerable to sheisters. And those who benefit from same can even be stuck with a sort of Stockholm Syndrome, singing the praises of the sheister.

If I sell you a substandard product I'm a good huckster. If you dole out Medical advice with no formal education I'm a killer. No different to when someone puts a product on the roads that they knowingly will kill people. Nothing is worse then selling hope to those who have none.

Again, anyone who gets their health advice from a book on tv is an idiot. Do you have any data to support that book being responsible for deaths? If this was true/proveable then he wouldn't be getting out of prison. The stretch to 'serial killer' is still laughable.

For most people I would agree....the data on this clown is overwhelming. Serial killer is the perfect adjective. Johnnie Cochran couldn't get this guy off.

The law is hard on quackery. This is both for reasons of public safety (which is laudible) and for protecting the profits of the medical industry (which is probably more important to the people in charge). You pretend like you can cure cancer by eating more vegetables or vitamins or whatever, you're going to jail. I don't feel bad for KT. He's a scammer and will always remain a scammer.

The IPT was the last chance for pool to make it into the mainstream. It did everything right as far as I'm concerned, when it came to televising the event. They could perhaps have focused more on the personalities and the rivalries, but it's nitpicking. They focused on 8 ball which people understand, they played on decently tight but not too tight pockets, the cloth was slow which rewarded power breaks. People just don't want to watch pool. But it was a very good attempt.

He was known to be a scammer before the thing even started. Everyone knew, but they went along with it anyway, because there was a chance of getting paid. For the players, not too much was at stake, so it was mostly a free roll. I mostly feel bad for the people working for this guy. As usual, they were the ones who got shafted the hardest, apart from the investors. However, as an investor you're supposed to do your due dilligence, and if they had, they'd have known.

I know one guy (he's a family member of a friend of mine) who has been arrested for fraud several times. The family disowned him long ago, after he ripped them all off, and I haven't really talked to him after he did those crappy things to the people who loved and trusted him. He gets out of jail, starts a new venture and people are lining up to put money in it. Even people who know what he's done before. The allure of the huge promised profit is just too strong for them to resist. In those cases I don't feel particularly bad for them. I'd naturally warn them if I had the chance, but after the fact, if they come complaining I wouldn't feel bad for them at all. If someone is promising 100-200% profit short term on your investment and is a known scammer, you should know that this is a scam. When someone promises 700% profit, you should have a brain scan if you so much as consider investing. I know he did that on one occation. And people put money into it. Very often it is the criminals who do. The people who're supposed to be street smart and probably know the guys reputation better than even the authorities. I guess they think nobody would dare to rip them off? Well he did, several times, to some of the worst people around. Afterwards he'd just disappear himself, and show up later when the heat was off. The point of this anecdote is that people are stupid to trust people who've scammed before. If you do, you shouldn't be surprised if you get scammed.

I don't like the guy but you have zero proof. I just looked it up and he was forced by FTC to stop the statements early on. There are no lawsuits that i could find blaming this book on deaths. I seriously doubt those with serious life-ending ailments based their treatments on these books. You have ZERO proof that ANYONE died yet you feel free to resort to calling someone a serial killer.Good way to get sued.

He's been a scammer to some degree most of his adult life. The leap to 'serial killer' that another poster tries is not only laughable but a good way to end up in court.

Fixed it for you. It is most definitely not that way in Germany, which has strict laws about what companies can do to advertise, and specifically, on "alternative medicine". Hell, here, you cannot even claim health benefits on food labeling and advertising.

For all the problems the IPT had, its format was still the best for getting non-pool-players interested in pool.
Yes because the general population could understand it. I still can’t understand bonus ball and I’ve played about 40 years now.

KT had the right idea, he should have went after the amateur market as it was bigger. That was his biggest mistake-in hind sight.

Slow clots, 8B etc. simple, easy to relate to ideas that non-players understand pool to be. That has the widest appeal possible.

Nobody starts pool playing 1P that’s where you end up.

Great post

Fatboy😃

The one person that seemed to be the worst affected by the IPT and it's demise was Deno Andrews. He effectively disappeared from the pool and billiard world after it all ended.

I remember being at a 3 cushion tournament at Chris's after the IPT was over and we tried in vain to get him to come over just for a visit. I had his cell number and we spoke to him but try as we could he would not come over..

It was truly sad there were a lot of old friends that wanted to see him.. Life goes on and I hope he is happy, healthy and well..
Yeah he got the raw deal, through no fault of his own.

Edit: it should have been Sigel that got the raw deal. He’s the one who brought KT into the pool world and was in KT’s ear. Sigel even had scam multilevel marketing bs websites just like KT’s a few years ago.

Years ago I was excited for the next IBT tournament to be held in, I think, Arlington Heights IL.
I was very disappointed when the event was cancelled.
I would love to see more pro tournaments in Chicago.

I cannot agree more. The best match was watching Sigel get slaughtered by Efren.. He sat there whining like the bitch he is.. Such an egomaniac... Efren rolled over him without breaking a sweat and walked away with the cash..

Sue what and whom? The feds couldn't get all their money. Years ago their was a 60 minutes episode (might have been 60 minutes Australia) detailing a couple of people who went to their grave. I stand by my statement. Note how I use my real name. Send my Lawyer the paperwork. Not holding my breath.

You're clueless. Talking about you getting sued. You go on a public forum and call someone a serial killer based on what? Your opinion. The guy's a complete douchebag but he's never been accused of causing any death's. Sounds more like you're standing on your head.
