If i could play id want to be in those first two events for sure. As each even passes, i think the chances for the next one occurring diminishes greatly. Hope Im wrong- Only time will tell. (to coin a phrase)

I am discouraged. I e-mailed them a week or so ago about paying the lifetime membership of 899 bucks and as well competing in the Orlando event in December. The website states you must be paid up by September.

To date, I have had absolutely no response. Since I have contacted the IPT, they have now updated their website, but have not responded to my inquiry in the form of an e-mail.

Is there an actual person who responds to prospective players' inquiries about upcoming events? They have my e-mail, telephone numbers, and home address. I'm not too hard to get a hold of. :p

I am beginning to believe that it is who you know when it comes to the IPT. Thus, another political animal is born. I wish the other players good luck. How fortunate they are to be hand-picked to play in the first event. All others can just sit back and watch the show, I guess.

I have received an email to say I have been selected to be a member for the IPT for 2006.

Has anyone else received this...if so, what are the implications?

Colin, WHEN did you receive it? Just curious! :p

I would like to think that if the IPT has denied admittance to a player that they could at least give them the courtesy of a timely response in the form of a denial.

To date, I have received NOTHING, which is very discouraging for me and mine. A resounding NO would be welcome as opposed to NO RESPONSE.

I think it makes sense to wait until the end of the application process before saying "NO". That way, they won't prematurely eliminate someone who might be a borderline candidate. I'm not saying that is the case with Keith, but I think it would be the fairest thing to do in general.

Colin, what did the confirmation email say? Was there any sort of contract or other new information in the email?

Thanks.

I'd tend to agree with you, too, "iusedtoberich." My initial reading of the concept of the IPT tour, it seemed like a godsend to pool players, especially considering the current low payouts in the majority of events available.

It's just that this month of September in particular, our POOL BUDGET, if you can call it that, has exceeded FIVE FIGURES. The deadline for the IPT, if I am reading the website correctly, is SEPTEMBER. We will be out of town and on the road for much of the month of September. Just a heads-up, yea or nay, would be welcome.

To tell you the truth, I hope the IPT does well. It's a good thing for pool players around the world. No response, though, is a little unsettling.

Email from the IPT

Jam,

I got an email this morning inviting me to apply for membership in the IPT. It also stated that the 150 players would be selected and the $1 membership fee (yes that one dollar) would need to be paid by October 31st. If you or Keith registered on the website for updates, you'll probably be getting an email very soon. I'm not going to fill out the application because I don't need to clog their system with my lack of game :D !

Don't worry just yet. I think they're getting to it. As someone who know a little something about logistics, I can see how they're running behind if they hadn't thought through all the steps to pulling this off smoothly. If you want to call to talk, PM me for my phone numbers. Or just PM me and I'll try to answer.

See you soon!

Thanks for the response, Brian. We will be seeing you at the Open for sure, and I'd love to sit down and chat, not just about the IPT, though! :p

Give Josh and Todd our regards, and we're looking forward to seeing you all very soon!

I just saw a pic of Mike Sigel and DMX. When did DMX get out of jail? I thought he was in for stealing a car or drugs or something?

Who's the weird dude in the white suit? He's wiggin me out!
The cast of characters at that party seemed bizarre to me...does anyone else think so? It looked like an episode of the Sureal Life.

Dude, if it helps any, I'm wigged out myself! LOL

If you're talking about this dude in the white suit, I think he's an actor or looks like an actor that I'm think of:

He is an actor ...

although his name escapes me at the moment. He used
to play in a lot of WW2 war movies, mostly playing
a German officer.

Isn't that James Tolkan?

Three Times is a Charm (LOL)

I tried to reply to the post three times, but got knocked off (LOL). Koop is correct. It is James Tolkan from "Back to the Future" and "Top Gun." He was the "featured celebrity guest" at the Turning Stone Classic IV, which was won by Steve Tavenier earlier this year.

James Tolkan was very gracious and posed for numerous pictures and signed autographs for all in attendance. He also competed in the tournament at that time.

I believe he lives in upstate New York and would have attended the Joss Tour Season Finale at the Turning Stone last month, but the IPT extravaganza in Las Vegas with Sigel vs. Jones occurred on the same weekend.

He also plays with a Tad. Not too shabby for a Hollywood type.
