i know earl is not playing with a ob1 shaft anymore he went back to a regular playing shaft for shooting pool now is this true he said that on the ipt match strickland vs archer interview:)

thanks

The same CueTec that he won all those World Championships and other tournaments with?????

Sounds like quite a bit of ungrateful nonsense to me. I bet he cashed every one of the checks he got from CueTec over the 17 years he was sponsored by them.

And people wonder why companies don't want to sponsor pro pool?

Why would anyone want to sponsor a player or a sport that speaks so poorly of it's sponsors?

Looking at the taper and the light blueing on the shaft, I don't think that cue had much in common with an average Cuetec :) He sure did play good back then, though...

I'm not very good with english.. and pool english words. can somebody take that pic and edit it with a red circle to show me which or what is the taper? Thanks.

Earl just got a new sponsor, the Hathaway Broom Company. He will soon be playing with their new lightweight feather duster model, with the long tapered handle and tight peacock feather bottom. He will be using a revolutionary new tip made out of skunk skin. It smells funny but is very tacky and should make it easy to use extreme english.

I heard he is getting $100 per event, a slight decrease in pay, but times are tough so you have to take what you can get. And he will also get a dozen feather dusters to sell at each event he goes to. A nice bonus worth nearly $200, if he sells them all retail. That shouldn't be any problem either. Who wouldn't want a broom signed by Earl?

The hard part is figuring out the best way to grip the feathers. I understand Earl is testing Eskimo mittens as they seem to hold the feathers firmly and yet not too tight.

It looks like Earl will soon be sweeping away the competition once again. :D

Wow Jay, I never heard that before. is this new? do you have the website of his new Cue or a picture of it. and the website of that company.thanks

He could also be a good spokesman for safety glasses. As he shatters those shafts and sends wood splinters all over the place. I hope those brooms can take a beating.

The top arrow is the beginning of his taper.. starting at around 1 1/2 inch from the collar...
It is done tapering at around 2 1/2 inches later at the bottom arrow

Most people with stock shafts have around a 12-14inch taper. This pic shows a 24-26 inch taper (assuming a 29 inch shaft).

Earl joke

When Earl was in the third grade, him and a couple of his friends went behind the backstop to see who had the biggest peepee. Sure enough, Earl won. So when he got home, his mother asked him how his day was and Earl told his Mom what he did and said that his friends said the reason why he had the biggest peepee was because he was a hillbilly. His Mom said "There there honey, it's not because you're a hillbilly, it's because you're 28 years old!". Gittem this year Earl!

That's the first time I seen how far back his taper is...talk about whip city...I wonder if that started out as an original shaft and he or someone sanded all the fiberglass off and put that crazy taper on....

No, its not a cuetec shaft. While Earl was playing with Cuetec cues, there was a cue repairman in Winston-Salem NC that made him shafts for his cues.
