Is it common for Schon cues to have warped forearms?

This is for anyone who hasn't read the thread through.
It appears justinb rec'd this cue, noticed the roll problem, and then apparently came to an agreement with the seller for a partial refund which made justinb happy. :smile:
It is a used cue and so I don't think Schon has any responsibility here and the seller has made the op happy so no need to keep suggesting the cue be sent back to him.
sounds like a done deal to me.

Guess it depends at what point the refund was given. I don't know but to me it sounds like Justin is still unhappy at this point and he himself is the one hinting around at maybe sending it back. Do you notice a common theme going down?

The seller went above and beyond my expectations to make me happy. He is a very nice and honorable person.

I would have never mentioned the identity of the seller. I did not even contact the seller to complain about the cue. The seller contacted me after seeing this thread. Actually, the seller contacted me twice (at different times), after seeing both of the threads that I created about the cue today. He is a really nice guy, and a really good person.

I do love a happy ending. The amount of not straighness:wink: the cue has is not uncommon, wood changes often and I have seen it many times with cues from all walks of life. Play with it for a spell and let us know what you think.
I'd like to clarify my statements, especially to the supporters of Schon.
I can be an ass at times, this cue is warped PERIOD. Not blaming Schon, but there is a problem and its not the table! Cues get left in backseats, trunks, etc. Most of them hold up to the strain, some do not. I have a R Black that I played with for years, it would warp, un warp, warp, etc . Temp and humidity were everything to that cue. I may start playing with it again if I ever go home...who knows.
This thread wasn't about disrespecting Schon, it was about a warped cue. ALL Cuemakers will have a Cue warp.... EVERYONE OF THEM. This is not an attack on Schon.
Schon has a great history with Cues, and it will continue.

Yeah, I am amazed at how good and generous some people are at times. Also shocked that I did not even need to complain to the seller about the cue. He made me very generous offers after I created each of the threads. It was honestly not my intent to get to the seller by creating the threads. That thought did not cross my mind. Anyways, I am really very happy with the deal now. I am really very sorry for any trouble that this thread may have caused.
Lol, yes that was my "tagline" jelly over JAM. Lmao. She has a big heart and loves Keith to death, just as many of us do(pool players) any way, hope Keith makes the Expo this year.

I looked at the video several times.
To my eye, it seemed like the bottom portion of the steel joint was lifting from the table, i.e., not straight.
It's almost as if the cue joint was slightly bent and I don't know if heat would do that......I think not.
Anyway, watch the video again and see if it doesn't strike you as something akin to that.
It is like the cue joint had been pulled in a leftward direction.......heck, just a guess on my part.

I had a Schon that had a roll just like that. Got it used so who knows what happened to it. Don't think it's a Schon thing just as much as a cue thing. Some cues move and I think a lot of people just never look close enough to notice a small roll like that.
Won't effect playability at all, obviously, I used my Schon for a good long while that way. It will effect resale though, assuming you disclose the issue, which I did when I sold it. Was a great playing cue though.
Sometimes I think we get way too hung up over how straight a cue is. An obvious warp is bad but a half millimeter of roll like that is a complete non issue. But I admit to being concerned about it myself, all my cues get rolled on a hard surface where I can see the tiniest bit of rollout (cloth hides a lot).

As you mentioned some cues move. I believe for this reason is why the better custom cue makers age their wood 10,15,20 years to avoid this. Production cue companies generally do not do this for obvious reasons.
