Wang Can just turned 20. Bergman for the Mosconi is a great idea!

I would rather watch Sky, Bergman, & J. Hall take a shot at it, than watch Rodney Morris, Dennis Hatch, and Johnny Archer get beat on.



It all boils down to how young do we want to call young?

There is Wu who is still young at 25 if we define young as under 30.
And I like Jayson Shaw 25 years old. Fantabulous potter, beautiful stroke.
If we define young as under 20 , then probably the best under 20 player in world right now is that little monster Ko Pin Chung at 18 years old

Still, if we're picking just one, I'm thinking Ko Pin Yi is the best young player in the world right now.

IMHO, Best young player (under 30 ) in world -10b, Ko has slight edge over Wu but 9b probably Wu. If 8b, maybe Jayson or Wu

I tend to go by the money boards and based on thatI thought he might be overrated a bit.
but I may have to re-evaluate. Winning smokin' aces was pretty huge.
And having just won DCC 1p, it seems like he's getting better and better.

At the risk of sounding like a hater, it looks like the only times he's won big is 1p and barbox.
Other than that ring game in 2008 he's never won more than 1,500 playing any sort of
9b or 10b event. I think to be considered one of the best all-around players, you gotta be able
to win majors in those games. Otherwise he's just another "specialist" like frosty or matlock.

I would want someone with big 9b wins on the mosconi cup, playing great 1p isn't the same.

The boy's been flying under the radar for a good while now- a ddecade?- but I guess these paydays have shown him the big stage is not so bad to embrace.

Hope he keeps it up.

Is Justin Bergman considered the top young player in the U.S at this time? I don't watch much steaming lately and trying to ween myself off AZB, and play more pool, so there might be someone ahead of him. Justin seems like he has it all. Plays both 7' and 9' tables very well and plays all games. He seems to play the same in tournaments as he does gambling . I like his game and attitude a lot. I haven't seen him dog anything either Johnnyt

Justin is on a great roll!!!! If I am not mistaken, he has only lost one set (race to 21), since he played in the tournament. That was last night!! Justin, lets go to Vegas and play some black jack, my treat. You are very good at 21!!!!!!

Reading the thread i see the word roll mentioned and that pretty much defines who not only the best young player is but the best players period. With the money being paid out in pool all young players eventually have to face the reality of not being able to make a living from it or they have to be irresponsible and not get a real job .

Unless they live pool everyday they can't stay sharp.They will have to live at home with relatives , friends or girlfriends to use to make ends meet .What happened to Jesse Engel?Did he not have enough game ? Did he come to that realization and decide to move on , or a love life ? Believe Chip Compton is under 25 , don't know if he has enough big table rotation game but he is an excellent 1p player.

Jesse is a friend of mine, and recently spent time at my house, he played bonus ball, and has been playing the regional stuff around the area. It is pretty tough out there, if you are not consistently in the top few the expenses will eat you up.
