For all y'all out there who are entertainin' the thought of seeing their theater show - I think it was the band Styx that said - Welcome to the grand Illusion, Pay Yer Price - get yer ticket for their show, even though the stage is set - the band ain't playin - join them in their blind ambition. Also any willing participant in their theater show - obviously has 'too much time on their hands.'

I haven't posted in one of these threads for awhile, might as well. First things first, the BCA has accepted a run that wasn't set in an exhibition as an exhibition high run. That pretty much invalidates their certification to begin with.
Day one of john's high run he had four witnesses that were supposed to have seen it all. Then the number grew to five a day or two later, then six, another day or two later, then to eight another day or so later. Missed seven somehow. Most of this "exhibition" was before the place was open for business. Three of the witnesses were the hall owner, his wife, and his employee. Anyone that has ever owned a business knows there are other things to be getting done besides watching john's one or two hundredth attempt. Fairly safe to say that there was some getting of coffee, relieving of coffee, the normal things going on. Doubtful if even his racker was watching with a critical eye from the first rack. With the low number of witnesses and witnesses being human, both less than intensely interested in this particular run and having bias, john's witnesses don't stand up to scrutiny. john's endless attempts one behind the other just weren't that interesting for anyone to watch closely when they had all seen this activity many times before.
john's claim seems to live and die on the video he guards so zealously. However, this is reported to be from a single camera mounted on a tripod. This is a fairly low angle which makes it fairly certain that john's own body blocked the view of some shots. Did he bump the cue ball as can happen so easily or commit another foul that is no big deal in practice but death to a record? We can't know, probably wouldn't know if the video was released. Releasing the video probably won't absolutely prove john's claim but it could destroy his claim. In terms of the record, significant downside potential to releasing the video, lesser upside potential.
Now lets look at Willie's run. For starters it is a real exhibition. A rare or fairly rare event, a multi-time world champion is coming to town and putting on an exhibition! This draws a genuine crowd, especially when there were so many less forms of entertainment. I have never seen how many people were supposed to have attended that exhibition, thirty-some-odd claimed to have seen every moment of it. I am somewhat skeptical of this claim also, however, it is easy to accept that out of thirty-eight people I believe, somebody had a critical eye on every shot, likely at least several dozen somebodies. The number of witnesses and the fact this was a special event validates Willie's run. Had it been made behind closed doors with the same set of witnesses john has to offer I would be equally skeptical of Willie's run.
Time will tell how john's run is viewed by the average person. My guess is that it will be viewed much the same as all of the other questionable practice runs. john's run main claim to fame and eclipsing Willie's run is that the BCA has accepted it as an exhibition run. Exhibitions don't take place before a small group of people that are on the spot for other reasons.

If they would not have tried to drag Mosconi's name into their theater show it would not have bothered me as much, I guess they had to drag Mosconi's true 526 under the bca,j.s.,predcues bus in order to fill any of their theater seats. Like Lou said I choose to wait and see the unedited footage of their Claim - before I believe it - till then I wait with bait on my breath. I wear no rings, but this slippery 626 CLAIM - so far - does NOT get my approval. I am accomplished 14.1 Player - guaranteed. Right now there theater show equals fake news oppurtunist - tryin to steal an official American Sports History Record, it's amazes me they thought they would be able to get away with the intrusion on a real 65+ yr old Sports History Record. What a sham the bca and it's co-conspirators are - hollywood - go figure.

What you think matters less and less the more you post. You have rage issues with Schmidt. Did he get your sister pregnant or something?
You'll be remembered more for your feud with Schmidt than you will for any straight pool 'accomplishments'. You're not a current or former champion. You claim to have once ran over 300, not that anyone can confirm it, and who once placed 3rd in a tournament more than 10 years ago. If Hohmann, Schmidt, and others are first-rate players, does that mean that you're a second or third-rate player?
It's a shame though that you disparage NIck Varner and Mark Wilson and the other prominent players who have publicly commented on the video. Dismissing them as 'Hollywood' or 'co-conspirators'.....
It would be far more impressive if you would run four or five or six hundred balls yourself, but since you haven't, it's clear that you can't. You don't have the skill, and it just bothers the hell out of you that John Schmidt does.

Well I really didn’t think I gave a shit if John did or didn’t run 626 but I guess the fact that I just wasted an untold amount of my short ass life reading this thread probably proves me wrong. I did learn a few things though 1. Lou is still as big or bigger a sarcastic asshole as I am (and as or more entertaining). 2. I still can’t stand PJ. (It’s ok though I’m sure he feels the same—he can’t stand himself either). 3. Danny needs to get back on his meds including the chemical castration stuff.
