Is The Cancellation Of The Pro Event Detering You From Going.............

I was just wondering if the pro event being cancelled has detered anyone from going to vegas?I'm still going no matter what,in fact we always go to the B.C.A.s but have just decided we are going to the V.N.E.A.s,just to try something different.I have been told by many people the V.N.E.A.s are more fun.

dont let it

detour you from the bca tourny! i think there might be something going on during the tourny!

I went to the BCA this year for the first time, and was astounded at the amount of pool related activity. Without the pro's there, I will not be attending (unless kidnapped). If both the men and women pro's were playing; it would be hard to keep me away.

it is amazing the lack of support of the poolplayers just a few yards away. I went to bca the last 2 years and the empty bleachers was nasty. I would think an event of the magnitude would have close to a 1000 watching. It is no surprise this event is no longer happening. I dont know the numbers of players in attendance but if you travel all the way to vegas to play pool and wont walk 20 yards to see the best in the WORLD play, it says something about the game.

that being said my wife and i will be attending again. lot of fun, action and it is still vegas.

Yes

I have been playing APA for 3 years and just joined the BCA this last season so I could go to Vegas while the Pros are there.

Now I am told that the Pros with be at an event back east during that time. I am very disappointed and as much as I love pool and the tournaments I am considering not going.

But I am going to the APA South West Challange in Vegas at the end of March.

If I win the Cal II regionials again this year I will be there in Mar and Apr for APA and if I sign up for the Seniors then in May for the BCA. Without my son being there in May I may not go.

Yeah, the one thing I really like about the pros being there is they're sorta the social glue of the event. I mean, out of New York City, there are going to be about 50 of us playing in the amateur events but usually we're accompanied by our pro friends who know other pros from other areas who know other amateurs from other areas. You just end up meeting a lot of people since all the "degrees of separation" are actually under one roof.

I know that paragraph is silly-confusing but it is what I'm going to miss.

I think I would pay attention to this one. Those of us that know Ric have to assume he has an inside track on this.

JK,
Mark Griffin has also stated here that there are still possibilities for pro involvement in the event.

I will echo what Jude has said; I was fortunate to be invited to the event as the guest of a pro, and it was a fabulous experience meeting a bunch of new people: men pro's, women pro's, fans, students of the game (hey, sjm was there), AZB'ers, great amateur players, vendors, photographers, writers. It was fabulous.

Your exactly right on the attendance thing. You have all the best there, woman and men,and the bleachers are not full.I think that if the B.C.A. would have gave a free day pass with each member who paid for any event they were playing in, probably would have gotten more people excited about the pro event and bought some tickets.

yeah, even just a session pass to wet the appetite. cant be a money loser since very few are buying anyway. on the downside the bleachers suck,

Not this year, but maybe next year. I can only go to one of the Vegas tournaments every year and I might try VNEA next year. I've gone to both but generally I've chosen the BCA because the pros were there. We'll see how it goes this year. I think it sucks that the pros won't be there.
