The fans want to know. The players want to know. The sponsors probably want to know. The host pool room may want to know. Mike and Jose, this is your chance, just hit REPLY and answer yes or no. Thanks!

Mike announced this week's tournament at the last tournament a couple of weeks ago and I have received emails about it so I assume it is still on.
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a response from Mike or Jose here.

I give them my email every time I pay my entry but I've yet to receive an email from them. The website is updated so infrequently that you never know if it is still current. I do see that the brackets were recently posted from the last tournament.

There is far more visibility here on AZB, so not sure what the aversion is to using this resource.

I think it's time someone said something.

Maybe if someone goes by VIP Billiards to that event tomorrow they want to remind them that AZ Billiards is a great resource for tournament announcements, and it would be to their benefit to avail themselves of it.

I received an email about tomorrow's event but I was already committed to the event at The Green Room in Dundalk, MD.

I am certain Mike & Jose want to do better, they may simply not be aware of the sentiments being expressed on these forums, or they may not realize the reach and scope of using this resource.

I just tried calling them but got voicemail.

Oh well.

Hmmm. That event sounds interesting. I guess we've got some choices this weekend. I've only played on bar tables a couple of times and might have to check that out if there are still openings. Perhaps I'll see you there!

I'd run for office except that I want to be able to look at myself in the mirror and know that I have not compromised my integrity...:)

Just returned from watching the final match of the men's Planet Pool event at VIP Billiards in Catonsville, MD. 28 players in the men's event. Here are the results:

1st: Brett Stottlemeyer
2nd: Rob Saez
3rd: Rusty Chaney
4th: Alan Duty
5th/6th: Ron Vandiver/Guy Yates

I was there sat , and Rusty had just won his match that pinned him against brett for the hot seat for sun ,, glad to see it Im happy for him
cant wait to see Allen I never let him live this down,,

On a side note I broke out of my bite my tong mentality:wink: and brought up this thread and did not get very far with it ,I like Mike and Jose I have known both these guys for well over 10yrs and I cant for the life of me figure out why free advertising has no apeal to them I just could not make them see the light , in fact they kidded me all night about not being on thier email list calling me out in the players meeting,,,
What it did get me was Rob Saez first roundand a 9-3 loss:eek: but at least I won a couple matches before losing hill hill to Chris Garret but its all good

They do have results up on thier site and thats as quick as I have seen in a while so maybe some of it sunk in ,,

A helluva outing for Rusty. I am pretty sure he's benefitted from steroids.

turnout at VIP??

I have to say that I guess Planet pool got what they deserved.....28 players in a tour??? Every pool player that goes to MD, Va, Penn. etc...has told both Mike and Jose that the biggest pool website is AZ Billiards but, they never take any advice from anyone so.....they got a very, very small field? Go figure!!!

This is HORRIBLE!!!!

I did hear there is another tour that will take there place and I believe Loye Boyard is running it? Not sure it's him but thats what I heard.:confused:

I haven't heard about this other pool tour but I think the APT is already taking their place. Just look at the numbers.

Tournament success in a crappy economy 101:

1. Don't advertise your tournaments to the 1000s of people that check out AZBilliards,
2. Don't respond to any questions,
3. Don't bump threads pertaining to tournaments (if there are any threads),
4. Don't include links to the tour website,
5. Don't update the website,
6. Don't bother with posting results until everyone forgot there was an event,
7. Don't update email address lists,
8. Don't use facebook,
9. Don't show any enthusiasm or excitement,
10. Don't use any suggestions and be sure to take all criticism personally.

When you do all these things, you are guaranteed to get the results we're seeing with the planet-pool tour.

This is actually funny, But is the truth.

This is very disappointing news.

I too have known Mike and Jose for quite some time.
I know that Jose takes pride in his events and Mike is always interested in growth, and in bringing a popular and well-run event to the tri-state area.

If what you say is true about their attitude regarding the forums, then I think they truly don't realize or appreciate its potential.

I also know that a lot of us are judging them based on their performance and participation on these forums. And the judgements have been harsh...perhaps deservedly so.

Again, I truly don't think they understand the impact and effect of their combined inaction on the forums.

I think it is up to us local boys who have access, to educate them and begin changing their perceptions of the Web.

If you go to a Planet Pool event you will not get the impression that they don't care, and they really don't realize how dependent some of us have become on the forums as a useful (and free) tool for promoting our game.

I think that instead of bashing Jose and Mike someone should just pick up a phone and call them.

I plan to do so, I think others should as well.

Just a recommendation.

Please don't adopt the attitude that "they should know better"...not everyone is an Internet-savvy as some of the AZ members.

Let's help them...it will only help us in the immediate future.

What tour is Loye Boleyard going to be running?

I heard threw the grapevine he is starting something up. He said he was going to go talk to a couple pool rooms. He mentioned he wanted to do events on the big tables as well. Loye already has the Finding Felt Tour. Maybe he is expanding.
