Is There Some Hidden -or- Special Meaning To Your Unusual Az Name / Avatar?

My User Name is representative of a song title, with lyrics very meaningful for me, by Evanescence. My avatar is a photo of me with an overlay of the words to a poem I wrote. As an often "overly sensitive" person, I had a negative first experience being a new person to the AZB Forum. I have since then read many threads, but hesitated to participate, always worried that I might, in my inexperience, say something which might cause others to not be very friendly towards me.

I want to express my gratitude for this thread. It was one of the things I was most curious about since my first day spent reading posts; what the "hidden or special" meanings were, behind some of the more unique User Names. Reading this thread was enjoyable, and made me feel more comfortable, having a chance to get to know more about the "real people" behind the pool players.

Well, I wanted to be "Hooked," which describes both my addiction to the game, and my level of play.

But "Hooked" was already taken by someone (I don't see them post much...).

So I took "Shaft" because it was short, pool-related, available, and because I feel the shaft is the critical half of the cue. And... who wants to be called the "Butt?"

My current avatar is a picture that my son took of a plasma ball he got at Chuck-E-Cheese. (I like to think it is what the cue ball sees in its head when I break!! KaPOW!!! :D)

Nickename/Avatar

I know that, for instance, Black-Balled, contracted that never-before-seen-in-this-hemisphere STD and, well, we all know how that turned out for him.

And then there's Maniac for whom we're all rooting that someday he'll be able to get back out of that facility and once again rejoin society, so . . .

this leads me to ask about all of the other members here who have names and/or avatars that may have some hidden -or- special meaning.

Mine is pretty straight-forward, I like to kick and work on it fairly often. And chicken rhymes with kickin'. It came about during a game at about 4 am at the SBE Valley Forge convention center, down in the pit.

My travel buddy, low-level pro player Mike "The Hammer" Jackson and I were sleep deprived and maybe not very beer deprived when he dubbed me Kickin' Chicken. And it stuck.

What about you? Unless it's obvious, what does your az name or avatar mean? Anything special -or- hidden?

best,
brian kc

Well I guess I'll jump aboard and let you know,

When I chose my username, my beloved cat had just passed. He had been my parents', but they had recently passed, so I got him for his 1.5 years. I had to IV him every 5 days due to kidney problems. Wouldn't ya know it was cancer that got him. Anyway, he was an awesome friend and he had a ton of sentimental emotion to me. His name was George.

Within a week, I got me another cat, a blue-point siamese. I named her Georgetta, but call her Jet. She turns 5 on Sunday.

And that is me in my avatar making sure Archer doesn't slug rack me. :)

lol. He was 16 #'s, rather large for a Siamese. I'd walk him on a leash to work off his blubber. I have a couple scars from our play fights we'd engage in (his teeth were sharper than mine). Fatass lapcat would make parts of me go numb given any more than 5 minutes at rest on me.

KK9 <-- loves pets and apparently many more here in this thread do as well

I ate a can of muscles last night and my arms are still the same size.
Maybe I should switch to spinach.

this is ironic considering this is a billiards forum but my screen name was born while playing darts.

right after hurricane katrina hit i met up with a couple of real nice cajun folks that transplanted to my neck of the woods. we'd been meeting up at the bar to play darts, shoot pool and see who could tell the tallest tales. well after a few weeks they got tired of me whooping their asses on the dartboard so they decided they were gonna play dirty and get me really loaded. now they'd seen me get pretty well lubed up before but just on beer (i laid off the hard stuff years ago to save my poor wallet).

unfortunately for them i used to refer to jim beam as "aiming fluid". lol

when we started i was doing good, but by the end of the night the more i staggered the better my aim got and i wound up beating all 3 of them throwing left handed. then to add insult to injury i threw 1 perfect 8 dart game of cricket. at that point 1 of them shouted across the bar "THAT'S SOME SORT OF TEXAS VOODOO BULLSHIT! and it just sort of stuck. lol

In 1979 when I entered the 9th grade I was 14 years old and could bench press 275 pounds. After playing football and lifting weights for 4 years by the time I graduated I was benching 385 pounds. By the time I was 21 in 1986 I was power lifting and benching 465 pounds and deadlifting close to 600 pounds. I was always big and strong growing up as a kid and I was nicknamed the diesel in high school. So I used my nickname as my avatar. I started having back and neck problems about 12 years ago so I had to stop the heavy lifting. I can still bench around 350 pounds but that is a far cry from what I used to bench. I don't do any deadlifting anymore as I feel that is why my back and neck now gives me problems. The precious little girl in my avatar is my grandaughter. Thanks

Mines short for pigeon.

I got beat up (severely!!) by a pigeon as a child....no seriously. It went apeshit on me. Friends been calling me pidge ever since.

Avatars Rodney and Del Boy Trotter from Only Fools and Horses. Amazing TV show!

And there you have it... On azbilliards (the a to z of billiards), you have the a to z of nicknames / meanings ("the diesel" to "pidge").

Nothing hidden. I was just not too clever when I was signing up for eBay and needed a username. I used to own Sea Legs.

The avatar was from Beverly Hillbillies season 2 episode 10. Jethro was explaining to Uncle Jed. "This here rascal must be what you call a billyard".
