Is this a known predator 314 ferrule issue?

I was just wondering... I have a Predator 2k-4 with a 314 original (not pre-cat) shaft. As far as I know it has the standard ferrule on it but the problem is that my tip keeps flying off. I have lost 5 tips in a few months time. First things first, I have had the tips put on by 3 different people from 3 different cue shops, all of which are reuptable and have done thousands and thousands of tips.

Its always the same issue, the tip goes flying off. I don't break with it and its never been on a shot that I was hitting very hard. I've tried different tips as well... Everest, sniper, kamui and moori tips and they just won't stop flying off, lol. At this point I am just wondering if there is any known issue with the material the ferrule is made from on the original 314 that just doesnt hold the glue/adhesive or anything that can explain why the hell I keep losing tips.

Any input is helpful at this point as this is starting to get very frusterating and expensive.

Thanks,
-Justin B.

You should ask the cue mechanics you had install the tips if they had seen this type of issue. I am sure they have installed many tips on 314 shafts. I have self installed a number of tips on my 314 shafts and none have come off. I have replaced them when I felt they were no longer performed as I wanted. So, I have had no problems nor have I heard of any issue as you describe. That being said with the small sample size I am aware of doesn't mean a problem does not exist.

Those are difficult ferrules to work with.
Lucasi has the same problem.
They're soft plastic ferrule.
There's an installation technique to minimize that problem.

ive never heard of this happening to other people but then again, most of them have 314-2 or z2 shafts and not regular 314's. The people that installed were all very experienced. One of them was Charlie from Charlies Pro Shop in Baltimore, MD and he is very knowledgeable. What is the installation technique that helps to minimize the problem, if you don't mind me asking.

I would be curious as to where you store your cues? Sounds like the problem may be there! Sure, a tip can fall off, but as many as you,,,,,, I don't think it's the ferrule! You may have another problem! Heat, humidity, wet, cold,,, all factors I would be looking at! Hope this helps:) and good luck! Also, let us know what you found out, I'm curious myself.

i keep them at home in the same room i sleep in which is around 70 degrees continuously with no abnormally high amount of heat or humidity. i have two other backup shafts for the cue, one is a jackson and the other is a lucasi. i keep them with it because i never know when the tip will go flying.i store tbem together but none of the tips on those two shafts have ever fell off while shooting.

i will definitely let you guus know the outcome. i am getting alot of people saying its the shaft so i may try that route first however, your opinion that weather is the culprit definitely makes perfect sense and for all i know there could be some dryness or humidity that i am just not noticing but i plan on checking into that as well.

if anyone else has something to add as to what could possibly be causing thia, please feel free to chime in as i really want to get this figured out, lol.

I wonder if at some point the predator ferrule was damaged and someone replaced it with a ferrule thats not friendly with glue. I have seen some ferrule material that will not hold a tip.

I use Loctite Professional for gluing on tips.

On Predator shafts,I have found it necessary to use a CA accelerator to get it to work properly. Tommy D.
