Is this a real R. Espiritu cue?

Recently got back into pool and thought I would get my first good cue.
this cue was rather inexpensive and I was wondering if it is authentic? Signature is very faint under the finish, says Russ Espiritu 2004.
thanks for any info you can give me.

Not sure but that sig looks funky to me. The one I had and others I've seen have a much better/clearer sig

It sure looks like its real to me. I've seen plenty of ugly signatures from him. Does it have metal rings in the joint collars? If so, are the swelled? Most of his cues I've seen if not all if them with metal rings are swollen or "popped".

Yeah, that's what has me wondering. It's not like the signature has been worn off, since it is intact under the varnish. It is so skimpy and thin you would think Russ would just wipe it off and do it again if it was authentic.
I was also wondering if the style of the cue is in keeping with Russ'es style. Did he do cues with this little ornamentation?

Deadnuts, I sure dont know what you mean by swollen or popped but here's the joint. My ignorance about high level cues is kinda boundless so that's why I'm seeking help here.
I do like the way the cue plays but, at the same time, I dont want to be 'played'.

The cue looks real to me. If you rub your hand on the thin metal rings you should feel a slight lip. Either a raised ring or a sunken ring. Russ's cues are known for this. He also uses alot of turquoise. I'm laying odds its Russ's cue.

I have a quite simple Russ cue. He does do a lot in cocobolo also. I can send you a pic of mine if you'd like.

I have owned 3 or 4 cues from Russ and it sure looks like the real deal to me.

I would be surprised if someone is copying his cues vs. a more popular and expensive cuemakers work, like a Searing, BlackBoar etc. Maybe there is an exceptional demand for his cues that I am unaware of.

Just for the record I wasn't implying that it wasn't real. Just kind of a rough sig. The cue itself does look like something he would do.

I have seen Espiritu's with very similar signatures. He tends to sign cleanly on the higher-end cues, but on lower end cues, it can vary. FYI, I've seen worse examples of his signature than the one you are showing.

I have had 3

The cue looks real to me and is in his style. I had a friend with a one piece birds eye from him. Very plain. I can say this for his cues, I have hit with many of them and not one has hit bad, not saying some do hit bad but I haven't seen one yet. I think his cues hit as well as anything you will buy. I have hit with Black Boar cues to j&j many many cuemakers cues and I think Esposito makes a stick that will preform with the best of them. JMHO. Good luck I think you will like it.
