Well, the head rail is:) based on the nameplate. The late IIs were that walnut-ish stain
instead of the painted aprons and pedestals. But, many a used GCII in the 70s and 80s
was stripped and stained to look like the IIIs. It looks like a stained GCII to me.

Didn't the Gold Crow II's have ball counters on the foot rail?
The II's at our pool room, I beg your pardon, out sports bar and grill, don't have aprons. although they could have been removed somewhere along the way. :)

Elusive they are. I must say this is the first Gold Crown I've seen with the corner wing skirts which certainly confirms GC II.

What do you mean by hinged skirts? Did they attach differently? Is that gap in the picture by design or just poor installation?

The skirts are mounted to the rails with the extruded aluminum moulding, which I call hinged. It's always a pain in the ass installing the skirts because of that design, which is why I've redesigned the GC1S I rebuild to bolt the rail skirts on.

I paid ALOT less for a GC III in better condition. So I agree it is way overpriced.

These go for $1000 or less in the midwest. It might not be close, but for $1500, it might make sense to look more toward the midwest for lower prices.

No dog in the fight, just trying to help an AZ brother out.

Seems like Diamonds are much more in demand and command around the $2500 at the bottom.

And yes, the skirt in the picture is not mounted correctly.
 
Hey rkc, while you're on the phone. What are those skirts there for?
I don't ever recall seeing them, at least not around my neck of the woods. :smile:

I call the plastic skirt extension....then a bunch of other words if they're actually ON a pool table if I'm working on it....LOL....but their function is to hide from sight the bottom of the drop pockets or ball return if the table has one....without them you can see either sticking below the bottom of the rails blinds.

Bingo!

So far, no one has ever gone blind due to seeing the ball return on a pool table.

The designer(s) of the Gold Crown obviously hated table mechanics.
One of the cruelest accidents of history is that table design was frozen at the GC stage
instead of the Anniversary/Centennial stage.

Gc1& 2

My GC1 had plastic aprons, my 2 had wooden ones, and I believe the Brunswick nameplate was plastic on a 1 so they changed it to metal on 2s.
