Is this weird?

I had a local cuesmith put a 2 inch cocobolo collar on my sneaky pete (sneakiestpete). I like the way it looks but now and then someone will ask me why I had it done. I did it because I like the way it looks, but let me ask you folks, is this weird?

The cue looks fine to me, it is just like replacing ivory with wood. I think it makes the cue look more natural as the plastic factor is out of the equation.

Dude, I gotta tell you I think you are Weird!!!!! But, seriously if you like it that is all that matters, if some else doesn't screw them why care what they think.:)

whatever suits you will suit you well. :) some people may find it nice, some people may find it weird. but do you really care about what other people might say? always keep in mind you had your cue customized based on your personal preference - not theirs - that is the essence of a cue being a custom - it is customized to satisfy nobody else but you. :)

by the way, i don't find it weird-looking. :)

Not weird at all. You customized your cue. That is cool. Now if anyone trys to walk away it you'll know it's yours:)

Way back in the early '90s I made two cues with cocobolo joint collars. I loved the hit, a little stiff but had great feedback.

If you like that kind of thing, you should look into cuemaker Mike Dorton. He makes a lot of cues with long joints, inlayed ferrules, and more. Satman from AZ plays with one, among many others.

I like it! You should check out the conversion Craig did on Chin0's Tuliwood SneakiestPete....maybe if you ask him nice he can take yours to a whole nother level :)
