Is Tony Chohan really Retired??

Ive known Tony since 2000 when we use to play at Family Billiards in SF. Him, Amar, Bryce, Jason Williams, Mary and Michelle Rakin, and Eleanor Callado were ours rising stars. So much talent in that room so long ago.

I find it hard to believe that T-Rex has retired completely. Personally I think he announced it just to stir the pot and get people gambling. I will say this... Tony will bet it up and back up his barking and I think thats why he's not playing. Tired of players woofing and not shooting. I don't blame him but it makes you wonder if he was presented with a big match if he would dust off his cues and get in that game.

Ill never forget when he was on the front page of On the Wire publication stating him as the best in the west and was taking challengers from anywhere for whatever they wanted to play for. Not more than a week later Bristol Bob and Kid Delicious walked in and brokered a 5 ahead one-pocket set for $5000. I left before it ended but I heard Tony and his backers left a little light in their jeans that day.

Anyways I call horseshit.... He isnt retired and doesnt plan on retiring for a long time.
 
Retired in pool doesnt meant the same thing i does in the real world.

I wouldnt devote too much thought to the matter.
 
How many times in the past have we heard of someone retiring, only later to see them in action. It happens every year....Alex, Scott, Darren,Keith,Basavich, were all giving up the game, until they came "out" of retirement. Some just stayed out a little longer than others.

Tony will be playing again. The first guy that starts yacking at him for some real $$ will get action.....He just ain't traveling anymore week to week. How can you blame him.

Pool players are pool players.

Looks like it's going to happen later this year in California. Should be a great match! :cool:
 
Any time I hear the R word I expect the guys to keep playing,just less than before.A steady paycheck with health insurance is not a bad thing.I work full time and can still find 20-30 hours for pool if I want to.

Once you learn how to paly you only need so much time to stay sharp and it aint like there's 30 guys that play Tony's speed.

He could work 60 hours a week and rest/practice for 2 days and play anybody.
 
In pool replace "retired" with "taking some time off because I can't make any money" and everything makes sense.

I say playing 2d a week, he'd be lucky to play 80% of full speed.

There is a sharpness/ confidence that comes from playing lots and you can't fake that.

I agree with this! Muscle memory only last for so long! Getting it back after a long time is extremely difficult!

Saw Johnny Morra retired not so sure it was all about the money , other factors , getting married and having a more stable income might be his reasons , however he posted on FB he is looking for a 9ft Diamond so he might be at minimum keeping his game sharp just in case he wants to enter in some events ,, pools like a drug it's hard to quit straight up very few have and not came back ,,

Its amazing to me how Kieth has done this considering the game he has and the time he's stayed away ,, he at the minimum could have what my old friend Reggie has ,as he calls it customers who are willing to donate just for the expierence me being one of them
It's like recovery it's hard to quit but it's 10 times harder to have one drink and leave it at that ,, is if he tastes the whiskey again I'd be shocked if he could stop at that
It does not need to be a sole source of income but it's a nice supplement one he can tap for sure ,,

Looks like T-Rex already coming out of retirement.

Action Room is reporting Dennis vs T-Rex in July, Race to 40 for $50K.
