Ahhhhhh the Mexican Jumping Bean, middle and later 70's LA area he was part of the Arturo, Roasas, K Kong, Little AL and Ernesto group that were improving every month. He was always good action, his wife was great too and boy could HE DO THE SALSA. If your ever around him, get him to a night club for a spat, he lights it up on the dance floor, its maybe where the jumping bean expression has its roots, and a what great :) smile:) he has.

One of those European guys was the Swiss Champ (Samuel Clemman)that was staying with Morro. You were giving him the last two or the eight and commenting "look at the action I get, I gotta spot the best in a country!" LOL!

The other could have been Vince Fauquet (France) or Harald Stolka (Germany). There were staying with Morro too.

That's funny.......I didn't see Danny Medina on that list. LOL.

As soon as he finds a backer I think Danny will play you. What state do you live in John? ROTF.

John, I wish you could post results from all those matches. I know the CJ Wiley story which is amazing. He woofed at John when John was in Dallas to meet with OB. John says I am not here to play you CJ. The woofing doesn't stop, come on US Open champion step up and play CJ for $3,000. John can't take it anymore and finally says well but I have $5000. So they play 10 ahead for $5,000, it's over in 48 minutes. John wins 12 out of 14 games. I love Johns post about how when he was up and coming how he stepped up and played Morro and Cooney etc...... He's giving free info. on how he honed his game. By playing tuff players made him improve his speed from strong california kid to world class.

So I guess nobody has a negative story about this guy? I've got a good one about his character but if I write about it then everyone will throw a little fit.

You're right you wouldn't come out looking good. You don't look to good for even saying that. Some things are better left unsaid. I practically grew up in a pool hall, my dad owned one, and I have hundreds of negative stories I could tell about hundreds of pool players, but the fact is, I would be the one looking bad in the end. And I have some really good stories about well known players, some I'm still pissed about, but this isn't the proper way to tell some stories.

great post Mr. Schmidt

That's two of the greatest posts IMHO I've seen on this forum......
It's so interesting getting this history from an established pro champion....
That list of players you got into action with is certainly impressive....I agree you really have to be GOOD to hang with those guys.........Thank you, Mr. Schmidt......

Don't know if it was a true story...

The most impressing story I've ever heard about Morro was that he finished second in the Cardiff World Championship (winning about 30K?)....

The downside story I heard was a commentary on an Accu-Stats tape from Mr. Incardona (?) where he mentioned a Las Vegas matchup between Earl and Morro many years before....Earl spotted him the 8 ball in a race for 20K, and Earl won "in a breeze".....I don't know if it was a true story.....

That story about Morro and Earl is true. Earl gave Morro the 8 when Earl was playing 9-ball better than anyone. Earl went 10 ahead in about an hour and a half. I know that story to be true, I also heard that Morro went straight to one of the casino's on the strip right after that and won something like 50K in the casino playing at the tables.
