It's NOT the cue or the shaft that makes a GR8 player

A good player with great fundamentals can play consistently with any pool cue that is straight (not warped) and has a good tip. Those who say it is the pool cue are wrong.

Ok, let me head over to walmart and pick up a ramen wood cue with whatever that thing they call a tip is and let's get together. Btw I don't play to good, but we can play some 9 ball on a 9 footer. You also may want to adjust your title under your user name.

We have a name for the players that come in with a real cheap cue.....we call them victims. If your name isn't Efren or Earl, we'll play you some.

No one thinks or says that the cue makes the player. The only debate is how much impact it can have, or why people chase the next gadget or shiny new thing.

I don't need this kind of negativity in my life. I'll be surfing the for sale ads...

Even though I've only recently just signed up for this site, why does this topic seem to always come up every week?

I think the OP probably meant with a halfway decent cue. Not something from Walmart. I would assume he is referring to a cue about like a Cuetec or Players or Schmelke, etc. Cues that aren't the best in the world but are at least halfway decent.

He does have a point too.

Ooh ooh ooh... I've seen this one before! Is this one about the Indians and the arrows? Bummer, I already know how it ends:(

I think he was describing a house cue, which is not that unusual for certain players.
To find a house cue with a good tip that rolls straight is a pain in the ass,.
If house cues were well maintained, straight, and made of wood, I could find one to play with.

you're wrong

It's the cue for sure. I know this guy that started out with a sneaky pete and was an
APA 2. Got a nice Joss and in about a year was a 3. He is getting a fancy custom
and says he will be a 4 in no time. so there you have it, case closed.

Maybe you're right, and I have read many stories about guys playing with a house cue.

I suck playing with house cue, for me its the tip, more than the cue, but these folks that can play great with a house cue, damn that's really great.

So IMO, without a good cue, you have to be incredible to be great without a good cue.
