Congratulations John on your being chosen. Have fun (not too much) and shoot well!

Jerry

Congratulations John! I'm sure you will be truly honoured to represent your country at the Mosconi Cup. John's selection didn't really come as much of a surprise to me, the last few US Open Champions that were American were included in team USA at that year's Mosconi.

I have two problems with this year's format:

1) The shot clock, anyone who watched last years event will agree that
the shot clock truly hurt the quality of play.

2) "If the final result is a draw the defending champions (USA) retain the
title."

Wouldn't it be truly be a shame if the Mosconi ended in a tie? Why not have the team captains duke it out in a pressure packed tiebreaker for the title?

I kept thinking that it would be a total abomination to exclude John from the team; I am VERY happy that he is now included. Well deserved kudo's to John.

Of course, $100 says I can beat him at straight pool (shameless attempt to get a cheap straight pool game at DCC:) :) ).

$100?

Dang man you throw around nickels like they are manhole covers

:D :D :D :o :o :o

Congratulations to John.

I witnessed a great 14.1 match between he and Alex P. at the DCC a couple of years ago and I believe there was one Mr. Betmore keeping score. That was one of my best funnest pool moments watching (as opposed to playing, it's always more fun playing).

C'mon Don dig out a thou and John just might take up the challenge.

:o

P.S. : From what I have seen John Schmidt is one class act

Wally,
I still have the scoresheet from that match, as well as a 5 page description of the progress of the 5 hour marathon. To this day it is far and away the best pool match I have ever seen - the most high level play, the most pressure, the most intense competition; excellent sportsmanship. I feel privileged to have seen it.

As for the thou......you are CRAZY. Perhaps you've never looked up "nit" in the dictionary - do so and you'll find my picture.

In light of recent revelations about the interpretation some use for the word "Nit", could you please elaborate???

Are you saying that you're...

A) A "nit"-wit
B) You "nit"-pick
C) You're simply a "nit" when it comes to gambling (terminology most often used within the pool world in regards to one who has "gambling issues"

:D

The two times the event has been oranized in Europe, Europe has won!

Timberly: The webisite is under construction, that's why they have the plain and simple one. They did the same on the site for the WPC when that was under construction

Btw: Congrats to John Schmidt! Will be awesome to see him play!!!

Hoped Europe would choose either Hohmann or Feijen, but Alcaide isn't bad so can be fun!

Thanks Roy, I'm glad to hear it. I liked the colorful website from before and was a little disappointed when I saw the site today. I'm glad to know that they're updating and will treat us to a very nice website again soon. :)

Yeah, there will be a new website layout. I reckon it may look something like the Webber cup 2006 one.

T-girl,
Well, according to Wally's definition (and who in their right mind would ever have a dispute with Wally - he'd pinch your head off for fun:) ); I'm a nit for only putting up $100 for a game with JS. He's probably right.

In my defense however (Wally, are you reading this??); I DID offer the same game to Efren at the 2006 DCC, and he took me up on it; so hopefully I haven't insulted anyone by the "challenge" (except of course Wally - but hey, he probably can't find me here in the middle of the Great Corn Forest).

dude, at the age of 49 i ain't pinchin nobody's head off unless some AARP member tries to jump ahead of me in the breakfast line at McDonald's trying to cash in a 50 cents-off coupon on an egg mcmuffin and i'll take that 70 year old punk down in a heartbeat :D

"yeah i got yer egg mcmuffin right here old man" :D

I think he needs the dough. He won 350 G's a while back and rumor has it he is going to have to settle for a well used BMW that reeks of Hai Karate, a stack of nutrition books, and an oversized Armani suit.

He's gonna look like Tom Hanks when he shrunk back to a kid in that movie "Big" in that suit.

see ya bro
