Pool attracts all walks of life, and what attracts me to pool may be quite different for another.
I am always amazed at the strong interest in pool cues, requiring its own individual category on this forum. There are many folks who collect cues as investment and don't even play pool. I met a guy from Oklahoma who's got a $1-million-plus collection of pool cues in his home at an undisclosed location for security's sake.
When I first began playing pool, I always shot with the red metal house cue in my neighborhood tavern. I could draw my rock and run racks with it. As my game developed, I ended up buying a Sneaky Pete, which had an ivory ferrule. Me personally, I never did find out the "magic hit" that most serious-minded players look for in a cue today.
