Pool attracts all walks of life, and what attracts me to pool may be quite different for another. :p

I am always amazed at the strong interest in pool cues, requiring its own individual category on this forum. There are many folks who collect cues as investment and don't even play pool. I met a guy from Oklahoma who's got a $1-million-plus collection of pool cues in his home at an undisclosed location for security's sake. ;)

When I first began playing pool, I always shot with the red metal house cue in my neighborhood tavern. I could draw my rock and run racks with it. As my game developed, I ended up buying a Sneaky Pete, which had an ivory ferrule. Me personally, I never did find out the "magic hit" that most serious-minded players look for in a cue today.

Now comes the poll. Click the selection that applies to you best! :)

Maybe I missed something, but where is the category for those of us that collect high end cues and shoot with low end custom cues??

Select the one which fits you best. Do you consider yourself more of a pool player or a pool cue collector? Which do you spend most of your time in as it pertains to pool? :)

So far, I'm the only one that's selected No. 1 category, and you can just guess who's stick I borrow if and when I ever do hit a ball, which is not very often. :o

Try to find the cues that play like a $1000 cue, but can buy for less than $400 cause I'm cheap :D

Not good enough to know what the "magic hit" is supposed to feel like, but hope to be there one day ;)

Hey what about me ?!?

I did'nt see a selection for a broom stick with a pro-taper on it LOL..Just kidding Jennie,I only break out the heavy artillery(broomstick) when I'm in "BIG ACTION" if not, my budweiser, shaft jointed stick works just fine:) :)

All jokes aside Jennie, this is a good thread.I play with a six point Jensen worth approx.$1200

I voted custom less than 1K.
I had my Cocobolo cue with Ivory inlays made in 1996 and with the two shafts and joint protectors it came to $900.00

But I have many cues, a few old Plamers and a 78 Adam, and some low end stuff like my Wal-Mart cue.

On any given day I can be in a mood to play with one certain cue.

If I am going to play on my lunch hour during the really hot summer months, or it is raining I take the Wal-Mart Titanium cue with a Tadpole jump cue in the case and break with a house cue.

Wow, I thought for sure, the majority would fall in Options 2 and 3.

This is an interesting demographic of AzBilliards' readers so far! :p

geezy peezy

love that one hun.i like a custom under a 1000 myself.but i'm playin off the wall right now so i'm with ya babe.

My normal playing cues are what I use when I play bar league. Believe me you do not want to take any stick worth any amount of money in some of the local bars here.

LOL! :D I know. Don't you just love it? You've got a fine custom-made cue, flawless, smooth as silk, and pretty as a picture.

You lend it to a friend, out of goodwill. He proceeds to shoot with it, and when he comes with a miss, he SLAMS your shaft on the table, placing a nice big fat dent in the shaft, or if he happens to miscue, you witness your stick moving in an upward direction -- WHACK -- hitting the overhead light. Then there's the guy who leans your stick on the wall when he's finished using it as opposed to returning it to you. You look at your beloved cue from afar and watch it fall to the ground with a loud BANG.

Give me a metal cue any day of the week when I'm hitting 'em in my local tavern! :D

I know the only thing worse is when someone grabs your cue thinking it is a bar cue. I have a RAT 3 cue (under $250) for bar league. But I also have a $50.00 Players to use in a bar on weekends. If something happens to it I am not out much.

That's a smart way to go for sure! :)

I know one girl in my area who had a Scruggs for about 30 years, and she NEVER let anyone borrow it. Sadly, it was stolen from her one night when she was playing in a tournament. It is sometimes difficult to keep tabs on your equipment when you're in some environments. The rule of thumb is when not playing with the cue, keep it in the case and on your person. :)

Lately I've been playing with either my 60" Bob Frye Ebony SP or one of my wrapless Dominiak WD1020s... while my $1300 custom has been getting refinished by my cuemaker, Dave Jones. For a player, I seem to be settling on the Frye.

Just don't see myself playing regularly again with my custom... as this is its 2nd refinish job since I've had it and I don't want to ding it up again. I may make it into a wallhanger in my den. :)

I only play with one cue out of the twenty or so that I have. It is an $8-900 custom that I bought brand new for $350.00

It literally hits like no other cue I have ever used.

Russ........

ps..I'll go vote now!!
