Has anyone ever seen any of Efrens old cues for sale?

I wonder what they would fetch coming from a player of his status..

I don't know what his cues would be worth, but probably a lot. I'd love to buy a copy of his first cue (the one that cost 15 dollars or something like that) if the copy was exact i'd pay a bit for it. I've heard a lot of rumors about that cue (that it was extremely heavy, that it had a bad hit etc). I'd pay to know for sure, and who knows maybe it was a magical cue!

I'd pay a good bit for any cue he used for a while.

He likes heavy and forward balanced cues which I like also so I'd be fine if it were heavy.

At least from what I saw in his last interview he said heavy and forward..

Not me. I wouldn't want Efren's cue. The same for Earl's monstrosity he plays with.

Some that I would like;

1.) Shannon Dalton's cue.... I don't know who made it but damn.
2.) Kim Davenport...Szamboti
3.) Rodney Morris...Showman
4.) Ray Martin......Mobley
etc.

ya get my point?

I have wondered this too. But I also can't help but notice how little information there is on what he plays with as well.

Doesn't he still play with a Judd?

I was a bit late trying to get one of Ronnie Alcanos cues but man if I could find one of Efren or Ronnies... or Bustamante of course.

Andy Gilbert made Shannon Daulton's current cue.

It is absolutely the most gorgeous cue I've ever saw or held in my hands. I happened to run into Andy a day or 2 after that (all of this was at the SCT in Tunica 2012) and Gilbert was extremely proud of how it turned out.

Come to find out, Gilbert cues are a husband and wife team. I didn't catch her name, but she was very nice and they looked to be a very well-matched couple. I need to visit his shop, as he's only about 2 hours north of me.

I definitely would buy one of Efren's cues. I think there is something special that he rubs onto his cue like a magical potion so that it never misses. Once that potion gets into the grain of the wood it should stay there. I would expect my ball pocketing skill to go through the roof. I would think I would gain back the cost in the cue in just a few trips to the pool room. Ka ching - Ka ching!!!!

I bet Efern gives his old cues away to up and coming PI kids that can't afford one. I just feel he is the type that doesn't forget where he came from. Johnnyt

I would say this is true. Efren seems like he would give you his last meal and do without. The man is full of heart.

I owned Efren's 3 cushion cue. I saw him use the cue at the DCC and had a picture of him with the cue. I sold it a few years later. It was a Dieckman and played out of this world...but nowhere near as well for me as for the Magician.

I bought Rodney Morris' Showman cue (bearing "Rocket" on the butt cap) and still have a pic with Rodney someplace. That cue was one of the few I still regret selling. The shafts were 12.7 mm and lively. The cue played great. Sadly, it went to pay for my divorse lawyer fees. Now Rodney is playing with one of Lucky's cues made in Japan I think...not 100% positive though. We will all be hearing about those cues soon though.

I still own John Schmidt's Bobby Hunter box cue and that will become available if an interested buyer sends me a PM. The cue has a signed letter from John and is Bobby's first box cue.

I also have a 3-cushion cue owned by national champion Mazin Shooni and a cue made for Raymond Ceulemans by Dieckman.

Lastly, I bought Larry Nevel's Pete Ohman playing shaft after he returned his Omen cue and accepted sponsorship from Tiger. I had Pete build a fancy box cue and match the ringwork so the cue has 3 shafts. The Nevel shaft is longer, stiffer and hardly seems like the choice of the biggest stroke in pool.

I'm reminded of a verse in the Tao Te Ching: do not use the master's tools, you'll only cut yourself... Using these tools has been an education though. As good as the cuemaker's product may be, the cue is only as good as the player who uses it.

In the TAR podcast Efren did with shane I think he mentioned that he was using a mezz. I think at one time he was using a Bear cue.

Efren has been through more cues than most folks would believe.

Like t-shirts, they are.

Unlike t-shirts however, each must have black on it, for luck.

I know this is somewhat of an old thread but i thought people should know that efrens cheap legendary cue has been replicated as far as design goes for many many years. they actually used to sell them on ebay, u know all those cheap philippine cues u used to see all over ebay..well one of the designs was an exact replica of efrens cue. i have fam in the pi who took pics and specs of the real deal and aside from inlay material it was the exact same design. i do know in the late 80s to early 90s that his cue was officially replicated excatly in very limited numbers by some cue company. Some guy here in california at Santa Barbara owns one and listed it on ebay some years ago for 150.00...
as far as efrens legendary cue specs...it was 59 or 60 inches long..weighed near 22-23 oz and its balance point was 20+ inches from the butt end. I forgot to add that his latest cue from the mezz company that he is breaking in is designed to look like his famous cheap cue...needless to say it was by his personal request..nostalgic much?? or is the magic act not yet over??

But he never missed a ball LOL
