Does anyone know who can make Joint Protectors for a Mike Bender Cue...3/8x14 thread..Alton of Cue Caps says that when he makes them they are a little to tight and is not interested in doing anymore Bender caps and i understand his situation.

Jim Baxter is also unable to make them and neither is Dave (nbll01)...I sure wish Dave could..I just bought a real nice set from him for my Runde.

Any info will be appreciated .... Thanks...Don :)

Cue Caps

Hey Alton,

Please don't retire Yet, I was going to have you make me 3 sets of customs as soon as my other cue arrives in 2-3 months. From what I have seen you are the best in your Field and your skill will be greatly missed if you give it up for good.

Thanks..............Paul

Bender J/P's

Long story Short.........I had a Bender a couple of years ago and nobody else was doing his J/p's because of his Pin. Bender said he would do them but it would take about 4 weeks. I ordered them and after waiting 12 weeks I received them and they were defective. He really did not want to remake them because he hates making J/p's but he finally fixed them and gave me a great deal.

1 -Butt Cap J/P
2 -Shaft J/P's

Nothing Fancy just regular Birdseye maple with Black collar and his usual veneer stichwork.

Price = $300

Did not know this price before hand or I NEVER would have got them.

As they say......Lesson Learned = Priceless

Alton,

I wish cue makers didn't use odd size joint pins for reasons like your problem finding J/P's. I know it makes their cues unique to them, but it makes it difficult for owners to find things like J/P's or say an OB-1 or Predator shaft without going to the cue maker and I guess that's the reason. I don't know of another cue maker who uses a 3/8x14 pin.

I bought a Joss West cue with a 5/16x14 joint pin with 2 shafts a few years ago and since I play with predator shafts I thought i'd buy a standard predator shaft with a black collar for my JW cue and i'd be set. Well that wasn't the case because my JW cue joint pin wasn't a regular 5/16x14 thread which I had no idea of when I bought the cue. It was an ACME thread 5/16x14 pin and guess what? A standard 5/16x14 predator shaft won't work on an ACME thread pin so I was in a spot with my JW cue. I hadn't bargained for buying a predator shaft and sending it to the cue maker and waiting until he could get to my job and paying to have him custom fit my predator shaft to my cue. I sold the JW cue for what I had in it and learned a lesson from that deal. Don't assume things are compatible on custom cues, do your home work first.

Just Maybe...

Seems it will be a hassle to get these made.. So if anyone has a custom set already made and they are willing to sell them, send me a PM and we can discuss it.

Thanks...Don Iverson :)
