all three of the instances may be fouls for all i care, but it's a total POS move to call it. neither "foul" affected koniar negatively in any way. no honor to win like that

You can use the tip and move it forward- it just can’t be a “forward stroking motion”, which this wasn’t IMO

I know both are fouls to the letter of the law but there is one thing accepting the win because the ref calls it and another to actively call it out.

i do agree that it shouldn't be called a foul. but by the book it looks to me to be one but close it may not by different interpretations. so its on the player to be more careful and he certainly wasn't in this case.

pool rooms rules and what is allowed is much different than a tournament. and expect in one to be called on anything that may help ones chances of winning.
 
so lets get this straight. say you are playing in the finals of a tournament with say 30,000 first place money and a player against you makes what could or could not be called a foul.

you might not call the ref over, because you don't ever call those fouls in the pool room. and you dont want to be call a d==k.

I would not call a foul on my opponent in that situation if he had done the same thing.

It is clear and obvious that he wasn't intending to strike the cue ball to make a legal shot. He was not down on the ball lining up. He was moving it into position.
 
intention doesn't play in the decision of a foul or it shouldn't at least. and you would give up the $30,000 for your conviction of it.

No, intention doesn't matter. That is why I added that he was not lined up on a shot and accidentally hit it with his tip.

No, I would not try to steal $30,000 due to a technicality that is actually allowed under the rules (according to the prior posts).

Exactly, if the ref calls it of his own accord that's one thing. If you force the ref to call it, you're a pos that shouldn't be competing at anything.

i can think of very few players that would try to win like this.
 
I actually think the WPA should re-write the rules to explicitly state: "If the winning ball is pocketed and it is obvious there is no impending scratch, the players are permitted to remove balls from the pockets to expedite the racking process for the next game."

Players have done that since the beginning of pool. To penalize them now for common practice is plain stupid.
