James Walden?

Walden v Chohan

Anyone know any cool James Walden stories?

Walden played Tony, 1 pocket, a couple of years ago at Hardtimes. Walden had Justin Whitehead with him .They played a 5 ahead set for $2,500. It took Tony about an hour and a half.Tony banked the lights out and Walden left needing a visit to a psychiatrist.

Back in about 2000 James Walden came to Texarkana,Ar. and matched up with Country Calvin playin 9-ball for $100 a game. Calvin and I had heard of him and knew he was a real strong player, well Calvin ran the first 3 racks then broke dry, 10 racks later of not getting a shot,$700 down, Calvin told James that he gets weight from lesser players, I'm done!

How about the one where he loses early in a tournament and does not show up for the next round leaving
the guy who bought him in the calcutta $400-$500 stuck. (more than one time)
How is that for a good James Walden story??????

I've heard that one...!!

But I always ask myself, "How did it happen 'more than one time?'

I don't know the story about this, but maybe some veteran members of this forum and/or the pool world in general can relay the nitty-gritty details.

Didn't Walden and Cooney get into some action at the DCC one year, and they named a room after them?

I may be mixing the names up, but I seem to recall something about this.

I like James Walden. He's down to earth and no fuddy-duddy stuff. He's a strong player. Last time I spoke to him, he was experiencing some health issues that were perplexing to him. I hope he is doing well today!

I've got a lot of James' pics, but here's one that was handy that I'll post up. It was taken in Vegas in July 2006. James is on the far right. :)

But who's that guy on the left??? He looks familiar,,,, but I just can't place him.... LOL

Wasn't James Walden the guy who beat Flyboy out of 125K??

Everybody beat fly out of serious money that year...it wasn't only his money even tho he was the 1 shooting...he had a partner..Lambert...& God only knows the true total..but it was close to half a mill...never seen it so crazy in all the time i've been around pool...every pool player that has ever bet a quarter on pool came thru..smelling the blood in the water..it's sad but I don't think we will ever see that much action in 1 room again.

When Johnny Archer lived in Raleigh NC many years ago I asked him if he ever played James Walden. Here is what he said:

Yeah, I played him last year. I went down to Oklahoma City to play him him some 9-ball. We played for two days and broke even. We were playing even races to 13 for 5k each. He's one helluva player. If he walked in right now we would probably play some more but he is one player I'm not going to travel to play again even if its a 20 minute drive across town.

Just one of my favorite all time cash players. I've ran into him several times over a span. Let's just say he can play.

James had a high gear for sure !

Years ago when Efren was at the top of his game...him & James broke out even after 30 hours with Efren giving James the 9 ball playing 10 ball...not many human beings could have hung in that game with the magician in his prime.

I saw James Walden miss with ball in hand once...on a barbox.:D

True story....:p

On a slightly more positive note, I saw him give a strong local player the 4 out, playing 9 ball for $100 a game. James tortured this poor fellow for about 3 hours, and his pockets looked VERY heavy when he left...

Walden

James Walden can play a bit...'nough said.

*Psst, don't wanna knock da man's action, but he's f'in unbelievable when in punch!*

i would like to hear of some walden vs matlock matchups if they ever happened. i grew up in tulsa and those two guys were my pool heroes and played as good for the cash as anyone.

I want

to hear about when Walden beat Donny Mills (seeing how all you guys want to bet on Donny against the Rocket).
