Jarrod Clowery

Wow those pictures are unreal. Prayers for Jarrod and everyone else who was injured for a speedy recovery.

Just saw this video this morning of Jarrod being interviewed by the Associated Press. Glad he made it out of there alive. Wounds will heal.

OMG! Poor Jarrod. He looks okay, but you can see he's going to suffer from PTSD becuase of this experience. His poor legs all bandaged up and his hands. At least he still has his limbs, but he's going through pure hell. Poor guy! :frown:

Loved hearing that New England accent of his at the end.

Wow, Jarrod was right there and was fortunate to escape with his life.
Wishing him well, and prayers to all injured!
God was watching over you my friend, get well soon!

Gosh, I remember Jarrod very well. He's a great kid, and a good shot!

We were watching CNN one night many years ago, and suddenly, Jarrod's face appears. I'm like what's this all about!? Here's the thread about Jarrow Clowery on CNN: Jarrod Clowery in Lemonade War

I'll say a prayer for him. Wishing him all the very best!

Good guy. Plays hard. That's horrible that that happened. This pic is at the 2003 us open. Ironically that is me right behind him in this pic. And him and I played a set at q masters that us open and he robbed me.

Wow I was just shooting pool with him the weekend before the marathon,, its SO0 sad when people loose there lives and get hurt over the actions of a coward,,,, My prayers for Jarrod & all of those injured in the bombing

My Son Jarrod...

My son Jarrod Clowery, was severely injured in the bombings at the Boston Marathon on Monday. Having been right next to the second explosion, and with several friends, he was taken to the ER at Brigham & Women’s hospital. Since the explosion happened, 37 pieces of shrapnel have been removed, including nails, ball bearings and bee-bees yet there are so many more left inside that cannot be taken out. Jarrod has suffered third degree burns to his back and flash burns on his face, arms and legs too. The concussion from the blast has taken away most of his hearing, the doctor’s say he only has about 15% of it right now, and there’s no telling how much he may recover. He really has to be looking right at you to see your lips move to understand what you’re saying; you can’t just call for him from behind and expect a response.

From the moment Jarrod got out of surgery, he’s selflessly been concerned only about his friends and not worried about his own health and condition. His friends J.P., Paul (brothers) and Mark all lost one of their legs in the blast and they’re roofers who’ll never be able to work in what they know ever again. Jarrod’s compassion and love for other people is so easy to see, he still lights up the room and makes everyone laugh. It’s awful to see your child in pain, you just want to take it away and put it on yourself so they don’t suffer anymore but it’s the opposite, he takes my pain and the pain of others away with laughter and joy.

Jarrod loved working in carpentry and construction and was looking forward to getting back into the busy season, but now due to his injuries he won’t be able to work again for a really long time. It’s going to be a long road ahead; he’s going to need so much help with things both physically and emotionally, so I am hoping to raise money to help relieve my son of the financial burdens that will most assuredly follow. We have received and outpouring of prayers and kind words, from so many people, and are so thankful for all of them. Jarrod has said he is so thankful!

I spent some time with Jarrod today. He has his moments but overall he is doing pretty well. He still has a lot of fragments in his body but they also removed many of them. He got hit pretty bad.

He's in Bigham and Womens hospital in Boston, on the eight floor. Room 21

He would love to have more visitors. It helps him cope.

If you can, pay him a visit.

The picture of Jarrod in the hospital and reading about his concern for others is heartbreaking.
Jarrod's injuries are incredible, and he must be a very tough kid to be trying to pose like that, tougher than me for sure.
I wish him the best on his road to recovery.

There was an interview/press confrense with him on CNN about two hours ago. Pretty well spoken guy. Johnnyt

I just wanted to bump this thread back to the first page.

Jude:

Thanks for posting this. Obviously, there are multiple "Jarrod Clowery" threads going on right now, and having the link for both the interview and the donation page in each one helps.

I encourage every reader to click the link for the interview with Jarrod and his doctor. It's well worth your time. Jarrod is well-spoken for what he just went through, and you can see there's a genuine camaraderie between him and his doctor. Also, to hear from the doctor just how many foreign objects had to be removed from Jarrod's body (40+ metal objects -- including carpentry nails, ball bearings, BBs, and pieces of the garbage can and pressure cooker -- as well as non-metal objects including pieces of wood from the tree next to the bomb, pieces of his denim jeans, etc.) is just head-spinning. And he still has some carpentry nails and other objects still embedded in his body that over time, the body will reject and push out.

Then, obviously, give a little sumpin' on Jarrod's donation page if you can.

Very inspiring account,
-Sean
