"The Sleeve" is none other than Adam Behnke. Road partner to SVB and one of the nicest young players in the game. Adam is great kid from a great family. Jason and Adam matched up several times at the Qlympics with Adam getting a little weight. It was a lot of fun to watch the future of the game in action.Island Drive said:
Adam actually got the "The Sleeve" nickname when he was playing Jason on the free coverage from the Qlympics. Someone mentioned that Adam needed a nickname. Some astute online sweator noticed that everytime Adam had played on camera he had been in long sleeves. The peanut gallery began churning out the ideas: "The Long Sleeved Bandit" and others along that line. Then a genius typed simply "The Sleeve" into the chat box and the legend was born.
I know Jason Klat here in toronto canada and he is one of the nicest guy ...very quite ...i like watching him playing ...he has finesse on the game....i'm looking forward to see him play this year 2008 WPC

A couple comments about that Canadian 9-ball tour.
First, this stop is in Quebec, nowhere near the frozen tundra of Winterpeg (near me), and Winnipeg's 700,000 population is only about two percent of Canada's 33 million --

My other comment is that people should take note here that Canada seems to be doing something right. This is a nice series of events, imo.
I have seen Jason play quite a few times in the Atlanta area. He is a very solid player and a very nice guy. I saw him give Benny Conway Jr. the 7 and I dont think Jason missed a single ball in like 3 hours. And yes, he has done well in the Girlfriend dept. too.... Sarah is also a great player and one of the nicest people you will ever meet.

To add to the Winterpeggers you mentioned, Berry McLean also has done well in the past, more recently winning the Canadian Championships amateur division. There a lot of strong players that just don't travel enough to get a lot of recognition as well.
Also going a bit further back, Randy Pruden won the Canadian 9 ball Championships at least once and he was a big influence on Klatt, Hjorleifson and most everyone else that has come out of Winnipeg in the last decade or two. Just giving credit to someone who has done a lot for the game around these parts.
I disagree as to how nice the kid is. I played him a couple of years ago at the BCA Masters in Vegas.
In a critical game he was on the eight ball and the only shot he had was a bank cross corner. The problem was how to get the cue ball out of the way. He was up and down a few times studing it while I'm waiting for him to call the eight for the bank.
Then all of a sudden he gets down and in a split second he fires the cue ball into my ball and billiards the eight into a corner pocket that was not possable without a bad hit.
I called a bad hit and he says I should have called the referee. No mistake that he planned this bad hit. About a dozen people witnesed saw this and all agreed he was planing this foul hit by suggesting that he was going to bank the eight, then suddenly firing in the bogus shot.
I would have never expected this kind of behavior from someone playing in the Masters division.
I believe his mother was in attendance at his table. I told him that he should be ashamed of doing such a thing, especially in front of his mother. Then I turned to her and said that if she knew what he did she would be embarrassed to say he was her son.
Hopely he learned a lesson on morality that day and has changed his his way of thinking.

I know Jay and I would like to add that he is a great player and a great person.
I've seen him give up ball in hand when the incoming player didn't notice he fouled.
He would have had to call the pocket in which case you would know he wasnt playing the cross bank and you would have had a chance to get a ref right?
He is very competitive and whether or not you and everyone around thought he fouled there was no ref so he has the option to make the call and he did.
I feel for you as I can see it was important enough for you to mention it in this forum. But to dog on a player for what in your opinion was a bad hit seems kind of silly doesn't it?

I would have never complained about this if there was any doubt of any kind. I know what happened and he knows. It was a cheap shot and he knows it. He may be a good guy, but not that day. He never called the pocket and shot it so fast that I never had the chance to call the ref. You my friend had to be there. If you had been there then you would not be so quick to defend him.srs314 said:

I don't judge the charachter of someone based on a single experience with them, and I hope no one ever judges me that way.
