u12armresl said:Jam you must be thinking of Brian Gregg not Brian Groce, both are from Indiana.

I admit I was pulling for Truman, and he did have the opportunity to win several times, but I think the final bet should freeze at 1000, to give the leader the edge he deserves; make the guy trailing get it back by earning it the hard way, instead of a crap shoot. I know this would extend the match, but they could put a shot clock in effect to keep it from dragging on forever. Great BCN coverage; the announcing team was terrific (IMHO the "pros" that do network football could learn some things from Grady, Fred, Piggy & Tony about covering an event in an entertaining and enlightening manner). Well done, guys! I'm picking Piggy Banks to win the bank ring game tonight. For anyone who hasn't bought the BCN Derby City coverage: you're missing some good stuff. It's the best 30.00 you'll spend all year.

I was showing this on the plasma t.v. for my customers to get them interested but as the match progressed you could see they were getting bored waiting for those guys to shoot. There was usually no reason for it. And it seems Grady changes the original intentiion every year. What did he need the table for? Just a midnight ring game that never materialized. Maybe BCN did not have the time although there were scheduled to show ring game all night and broadcast until they had tech problems. Yeh Truman got hosed because of the bad timing.
fbrent1972 said:You are right about all the changes, both this year and last year. Originally Truman was told this year there would be a ring game with 6 players on Friday night. Then I saw in a post where Grady had changed it to 10 players to be drawn playing a ring game on Friday and another on Saturday. Each game was to have five players. Truman then had to call Grady to find out what was going on as he was not notified of the change. Then the day of the Friday game Truman learned that a sixth player had been allowed to join the Friday night game. Also, just like a previous post noted, Grady said the match needed to be over in two and one half hours (at 10:30). Around 10:00-10:05 Grady announced that there would be a five minute break and when they came back the players would be all in!
I also would like to see a shot clock and I would like to see the incoming player get ball in hand. This would allow for the spectators to see many more banks made and it would give each player a good shot when the came to the table.

He has a copy of the handout the players got before the ring game
started. it is an explaination of the format, and clearly states that
if the contest is not decided by 10:00 PM they will go to "all in"
at that point
so they knew going in about both the time constraint and the
betting requirement.
hope this helps clear up any confusion.
