Jay, wanted to say a big and sincere "thank you" for all the updates you provided us who couldn't attend the DCC. Especially in the 9 ball matches. As usual when you're at a big tourney, you never neglect to keep the rest of us informed.
I really enjoyed following your updates on the matches. The little insights you provided behind the scenes (like John Schmidt shaking Harriman's hand and wishing him luck after their 14.1 match) were especially appreciated.

It's nice to know that our indusrty has Accu-Stats, T.A.R., Geg Sullivan, Barry Berhman, Fatboy, etc to keep pro pool in America alive and kicking.
I wish they knew how much we appreciate their efforts!

It's equally nice to know that we can always count on you to get some type of info out to us peeps who can't attend these events. You must have had some kin who were Pony Express Riders or were mailmen or something.

I really appreciated the fact that Jay appeared at the straight pool room for the Harriman/Schmidt match. Bob had to keep score on the Hohmann/Appleton match on the tv table and I was asked to score the Harriman/Schmidt match. I thought, "oh, no. I hope there aren't any beefs between the players or any close calls on hits and fouls that need to be resolved.

When Jay appeared and volunteered to ref the match, I breathed a sigh of relief. He was able to dissolve all of the tension that arose during the match having to do with noise, spectators giving the players room, budding disputes as to time, etc. Thanks for making the match run as smoothly as it did.

I was too busy the first few days trying it imitate a pool player, plus run the Fatboy Challenge. When that ended we had two long days of the One Pocket Challenge. After that was over, I had more time on my hands and it just seemed like a good idea to start posting results on here.

I went down for the first round of matches on Saturday and saw all the great players and that sealed the deal. I followed it match by match until the end. After each round I would run up to the business office and jump on a computer to post the results.

On Friday night I sat with John Brumback and Jon Pinegar and discussed the Master Of The Table awards. I suggested to them that a saver might be appropriate since it paid 20K for first and only 3K for second (5K was the number I suggested they save). I pointed out to them there was a high likelihood it would come down to the two of them for first and second. They seemed reluctant to discuss a deal and wanted to take a wait and see approach.

As it turned out, my hunch was correct and they ended up a half point apart, with John winning the big money. Jon was left absolutely devastated, and kept trying to get a recount from the tourney officials. Turns out they had a made a last minute 2K saver, so Jon got 5K and John 18K. Still a very big difference in money for only being half a point apart after three events. I've always felt Greg should spread the Master money out a little better. Why not 15K for first, 7K for second and 3K for third.
