Jay Swanson update - free feed

yes...

I got to ask, did anyone else have any issues with the stream being choppy? I'm starting to think it might be my older laptop that has a problem. Also it became more choppy when I went to full screen. Recently had my modem updated so it's now abot 45 mbs, same thing was happening when I switched to the NYstate event. Any suggestions?

It's the internet at oncue that sucks... Oscar had the same problem with the last Mezz event. I believe he gave Mark a heads up about that.

Yes, there were buffering issues off and on during the tournament. Very few issues during the final.

My understanding is that the Mezz tour has had to use a cell phone as a hub during their recent events due to the lack of infrastructure at some locations.

Congrats Tate on your excellent finish. My observation on Oscar is that he most likely has OCD about many aspects of his life, including his billiards career. It's what makes him hard to beat and so good at whatever he does. Just have to put the work in.

Not sure what CSI used for internet access, the issue that Oscar worked through during Mezz event was that, they normally use an AT&T host spot, but AT&T cell service is poor in that area, they ended up using a Verizon Hot spot, I believe Verizon has a cell tower in the Grossmont Center. Much better signal. The way I saw the stream acting, I wouldn't be surprised their internet access was through COX, signal fades at times of high usage. Cox seems to always throttle up load speeds.

Congratulations to Oscar. Fine win.

Rodney was looking comfortable and smooth most of the day. I didn't get to see the final.

ps: good shooting Joe D

Jay Swanson

CSI thanks everybody for watching the stream. This is an event with a lot of history. Jay Swanson was from San Diego. We're glad to have the event back in San Diego.

There were a dozen or so people present that had known Swanee from as early as high school. There is a lot of affection for him.

We will research the Internet situation - but we were aware there could be connectivity issues and that was part of the reasoning to stream free. Since we shrunk the event down to 128, we could schedule out the entire event in advance - which worked out well, especially the players.

The dates are not 'set' (usually mid Febuary) but On Cue Billiards will hold the event in 2017. Congratulations to the winners, and all the players. And thanks to Clyde Norris and his staff. The A/C situation will also be addressed. We look forward to having a home for the Swanee.

Also a shout out to Ozzy and Steven Quan - you guys were awesome!
