I'd like to see some type of regular "King of the Hill" 10-ball match that is a race between 50 to 100 where any opponent in the top 10-20 could challenge the reigning champ. (Maybe using Fargo rating and maybe only USA residents?). Maybe play at least one match a month.
What I think would be great is if the person making the challenge would need to post up a significant amount ($5000?) of their own money in order to play the current champ. This is similar to when Shane took on all comers in the long TAR matches.
I would say that if someone could successfully hold the title as the champ the longest over the year playing against the other top 10-20 players in the USA, that they could maybe be considered the best rotation player in the USA for that year.
Obviously, this could be opened up to the all players in the world, but because many wouldn't travel to the USA to do this, I don't think the champ could ever be able to be labeled as the best player in the world.
making this worldwide would be a disaster and not cause of the travelling, cause of the playingfield!
lets have a look, busti my all time fav would be in as no 15 (well hes close to a no 15....in the phillipines), efren would be in it as no19, who still shines at times, but really still top 20? surely not! then we would have justin bergmann in it as no14 (no disrespect, i understand his take) who only leaves the US for the mosconi paycheque every 2nd yr and mike dechaine as no 17!
not in it would be no 24, kenny cheng who was praisen as best rotation player ever when he won the US open lol, then no 28, albin the worldchamp, no 30, mika the straight pool champ, no 33 joschi, current china open champ and im sure some would argue about a few others too!
sry, but that would be a terrible way to find the best!
