Jayson Shaw First Contracted Pro on WNT

I'm sorry I don't follow the logic. Do you mean he risks being banned from most Finnish tournaments if he signs up with Matchroom? Why would he be banned for that? Is it because WPA can decide to ban, and Finnish tournaments are under WPA..?
I think all national pool federations are members (some indirectly) of the WPA and are governed by WPA decisions.

I think the WPA ban will apply to any player who plays in an international event (by some definition that includes all or nearly all of the large Matchroom events) that does not have a WPA sanction. I believe the ban starts being applied to events in March.

It's clear that the WPA has lost this battle. The only question remaining is whether they decide to put on a fake world championship that excludes nearly all of the world's best players.
They can't do a 9 ball world championsip.

Matchroom acquired the rights in perpetuity in 2020.

they can and will do the world 10b in february, before the ban. after that, i suspect that the world 8b is either gonna be a joke or not happen at all. i assume predator will pull out of that if WPA stand their ground

There could be a world champion nobody has ever heard of.

The Finnish Federation is under EPBF. EPBF is under WPA.
Finnish Federation have forums that almost every tournament is announced and you can sign in there too. If someone makes any tournament that is announced there they must follow bans that Finnish Federation is have towards some players. Even competition is not official federation tournament they obligate all who uses their forum to announce to respect bans Finnish federation...
In past these players have been those who had doping ban or something similar maybe some payments missing towards federation.
That why ban is very bad to Finnish Pro players.

Its like this: lets say Makkonen signs with WNT and participates in Matchroom event after March 1st 2024. In turn WPA issues a ban on Makkonen, enforces it within its entire structure which means WPA wont allow Makkonen to enter any WPA tournaments AND to enter any tournaments on continental scale or even national scale (EPBF as his continental federation, Finnish federation as his national federation but also any other federation within EPBF or anywhere else under WPA umbrella if Makkonen is active in more than one national federation which is entirely possible given his high level of play). So in this case if Finnish federation forum site is THE gateway to any and all finnish tournaments then Makkonen wouldnt be able to enter those. Is that more understandable?

Interesting to see snooker pro Gary Wilson signing up for the World Nineball Tour!

Particularly interesting as he's had a very good couple of years in snooker:

I presume given Matchroom have a controlling stake in World Snooker they managed to work out what happens with tournament clashes!!!

cool news, wilson thinks and plays fast. he won a snooker ranking event this year, and last year, so i'm a bit surprised. he is very, very inconsistent in snooker though, and has always been.

It would be something if Ronnie played! I vaguely recall he played the IPT.
Here he is playing Johnny Archer with relatively clueless Eurosport commentary.

Many of the WNT events are in the snooker off-season, which starts in early May after the World Championship.

And any player who has played both snooker and pool at a high level will agree 💯☝️

But that doesn't mean that one day he wouldn't pick up a pool stick. All depends how much goes into his pocket 🤑
Totally different games. He's welcome to come to the states and bet whatever the fk he wants playing pool. I know a few guys that would crawl thru broken glass to bust his limey ass.

That's not the point (he) or I was making.

Yes they are totally different games...

Snooker is a more challenging sport than pool. That's it! 👍
