Jayson Shaw is going for a new personal best high run!!!

Pool gave Mizz one of the greatest assets you can get, contacts. That's what Fame does even if what you're famous at has no real monetary rewards. It's what you take with that and what you do with that.

I'm betting you know that more than anybody. You probably have more contacts than all of us on this whole forum put together.
I’m not sure if I have the most, I never really looked at it like that. But yes I do have a big Rolodex, it’s taken me decades to develop and many hours (which I have enjoyed) to keep in contact with the majority of my contacts.

Actually that’s one reason I’ve stayed away from social media, I’m doing great without it & I’m happy with what I have. If I had a biz purpose for social media I’d have a team of people managing my social media. But I don’t, and that’s cool. Or if I was a public figure I’d use social media.

I’ve been very lucky and blessed to have met some amazing people over the years. And I don’t take that for granted.

Who said he was checking messages in the middle of a run?

What Bobby said was that John was texting Jayson all week and that it looked to him that John was trying to shark Jayson and get into his head.

Didn't work.

Yeah, but Bobby puts his spin on things. I remember in another thread the comments during Jayson's runs were that Schmidt was supporting and encouraging Jayson and how cool was Schmidt because of it. Bobby's the one who's saying it's sharking. If Bobby would post the texts that were shark-worthy, we can all see.

Day 1, part 1 Statistics

Average BPI 44.5
Ball potting %: 97.8%
Rack running %: 73.3%

This is not as good as his previous run, but he seems to be stronger now than at the beginning.

For comparison, and with only four hours of play on this day 1.

We all have our individual takes on things -- but Bobby is a player and competitor and I've seen him do things while all this has been going on to purposely avoid possibly distracting players in a variety of circumstance.

Jayson looked like he was trying to freewheel today. I get players might play more loose on their first day or break in the early parts of their runs. He just seemed like he was more interested in acclimating to the environment than making a legit attempt. And that may have been intentional. But I was kind of expecting a 200+ run here or there this morning and it wasn’t in him. I don’t know. Maybe the table plays harder. But he looked more like Earl last year than he looked like anyone else trying.

It appears pool is more difficult in the summer than the winter.

Who knew🤷‍♂️

Me! My table in the basement is much, much easier to play on in the dry winters than in the wet summers, even with a dehumidifer running and RH between 40% and 45%.

I also spend much less time at the table during the summer, so that could be a factor.

Great point.

Living in Vegas I forgot what a wet table was, a few extra skids is a small price to pay for dry conditions.

In LA we don’t get the wet tables like Louisiana or Florida does. We have wetter tables than Vegas and more variance from Med wet to Med dry I’d say is a fair assessment, so pool is a bit more difficult in LA than Vegas however when your playing everyday adjusting to it isn’t bad.

Super wet tables are a whole nother topic. I’ve played on them many times, but never lived full time in a area where that was the case.

The numbers today are very different, more so than I expected. Is it just humidity? Is it Jayson? The pocket profile? The mysterious txt messages?

The pool world awaits a answer……

The drama is building

He’s playing in strong form again now. More focused and controlled and past his session 1 high run.

Day 1 comparison:

Shaw is playing much better in part 2 of the day, but still underperforming his runs from January.

Ruslan is still highest performer in BPI followed by Schmidt, and then Shaw. There's a clear difference in the way the 14.1 players manage the patterns over the 9-ball players.

The comparisons are a little unfair. SVB, RC, and Schmidt all played about 1000-1200 shots per day. Shaw has played 2000-2500 shots per day so he's putting in about twice as much time each day.

The frewheeling style here makes all the sense in the world. A player of Shaw's shooting caliber need not and should not agonize over precise OB aiming points on every shot under these playing conditions. It would take too much toll on the mind to waste focus energy during an attempt at multiple hundreds of ball runs.

His main concerns would be to get all the balls open after each break, keep the cue ball free, set up his next rack break shot, and keep from getting frozen to object balls. The luck factor is what happens after each full rack break shot- it is never 100% guaranteed to be successful, you control as much about the results as you possibly can and then - hope!

His pattern play needs to be solid, but his shooting skills on less challenging pockets will give him leeway on choices that can keep him more focused on all of the above. He has already hit 300+ with this style- if he is feeling real good and with a little luck on the full rack breaks, the sky is the limit for him this week- anything is possible from what I see.

Well if Jason beat record he will still not make what a real pro athlete makes.
It's not as if what pool pays is a secret that can only be discovered by turning pro. If people are unhappy with the pay they should work on their putting.

Point isPool player may work as hard at Pool as Phil or Tiger works at Golf, but golf pros do better.
